Thank Goodness It's Friday!

Well it sure is too nice of a day to have to go to work. I would just as soon be home sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds or pulling weeds from my flowerbeds. Yes there are weeds in the flowerbeds...uugghh!
They will have to stay put for a little longer because duty calls and off to work we go. My sister Sherry usually fills in for me when I am keeping Sloan but her lil'girl Megan is "gradulating" as she calls it kindergarten today! Congratulations to Megan and my other niece Maggie for "gradulating" today!

Grandpa is busy teaching Sloan the ropes on how to build a trailer. He loves to sit on top of grandpa's desk and kick all the papers. Now for a look into the welding shop. A little FYI....I actually know how to weld but don't do it anymore. Got me a pacemaker and those lil' welding machines just zap the power right out of those pacer batteries. I'll just stick to stitching....



Danny and the guys stay busy all day long.

Our son~in~law "JJ" works outside most days...wiring trailers, flooring, and moving stuff around.




Sloan is wiped out. It's been a busy day for a little boy.

~*Do You Have This Problem*~

How many projects can one person start? For me it is way too many. I think I need help! I at least finished the flower penny rug but I have two new quilts going on at once and that doesn't count the other quilts stored away. Then I guess I would have to mention all the needle punch pieces that are punched but not made into anything yet. Actually I think I have rubbed this bad habit off onto my daughter Jenny. She keeps bringing me needle punched tops with a line "I'll be back to make them into something", she has made one Halloween needle punch that I would love to have but we'll see!

Here are two redwork Santa blocks for a quilt I'm working on. Only another 10 or so to go. Dear ol' Claus gets worked on when I'm setting at Tractor Supply or Lowe's waiting on Danny. Mom actually caught me after church doing a few stitches while I was sitting in the truck waiting on Danny. Hey a gal has to stitch whenever she can find a spare minute.





I had hoped to have these finished by Christmas...I guess it all depends on how many trips we make to Tractor Supply!


Well for a few days I'm putting my stitching away. This little one is sure to keep us on our toes. Our son and daughter-in-law are on their way to Las Vegas. Sheena's youngest brother and his family live there. They are going for a surprise birthday party. Dan has never been to Vegas and I bet that it will be a sight to see.
So Sloan is ours for a few days. We have already taken a walk down to see the cows and he loved hearing them moo! He had a nice warm bath and a bottle and went down for a much needed rest.






The bottles are all washed, the supper dishes are done, and this old gal is about to call it a night. It's early for me I'm known to stay up until 2am but I think I better get some sleep myself before Sloan decides it's time to get up and play!

Happy Mother's Day!

We had a day filled with fun and lots of work on Saturday. For mother's day my 3 sisters along with their familes and my family met at my Mom and Dad's and painted their house trim and porch. We also trimmed up a lot of trees and by the end of the day everyone was exhausted but oh the rewards! Happy Mother's day...Mom we love ya!

My three youngest nieces Maggie, Megan, and Mandy Jo. These 3 little gals find fun wherever they go. Oh to be young again!


John took care of some of the bigger limbs for us.


Wyatt and Erin hauled lots of loads. My niece Erin out did the boys by far. She carted load after load of limbs.
I bet we all sleep well tonight of course I plan to take 2 tylenol, rub on the arthritis cream and hit the hay! Hope each of you have an enjoyable Mother's day with family and friends.

*~* I turned around and....*~*

I turned around and see that my little Jennifer Noel is all grown up! This coming Friday night she will graduate from college. I remember the day her big brother went to kindergarten and she cried.... she wanted to go to school too! So she went to pre~school for a couple of hours twice a week...actually they called it Mother's day out.

"A daughter may outgrow your lap but she will never outgrow your heart" not sure who said this but it sure is true!

I have two little nieces graduating from kindergarten next week and before you know it my sisters will turn around and ......

I made the most wonderful lasagna yesterday and it was so simple. You can find the recipe by going to www.thepioneerwoman.com/cooking. The lasagna was quick and easy and my family ate it up! I had the pleasure of being able to stay home again today and made the Carrot Cake from her recipe....my son loved it! Of course he loves dessert as much as his moma. There is a little left for the lunch crowd tomorrow if I can keep it hid!

~*Time began in a Garden*~

What a wonderful day spent stitching with friends. Once a month I try to get to one of my favorite stores here in Oklahoma called Country Collections by Hart located in Moore, Ok. They have a shop filled with primitives that are handmade not the imported stuff! Patterns for embroidery, rug hooking, needle punch, felting, penny rugs, quilts and more. They have wool on the bolt and hand~dyed as well. Hand~painted items, candles, rusty tins, and the list goes on! Every time I visit their store I see something new.

Today was so nice to just sit and stitch and of course I found a few lil' things I just couldn't resist! I have been working on Time began in a Garden by Indygo Junction a quilt block of the month. It is a raw edge quilt pattern but loving wool....I am making it into a wool wall quilt. A very talented teacher at Country Collections did one in hand~dyed wools and it is absolutely awesome! So hopefully by the end of the year if not before I will have mine done and hanging on the wall behind our bed. So far I have two blocks totally done.






Tomorrow is suppose to be nice here and the grass is ready to cut once again. I also have some flowers that are in need of being planted so I guess tomorrow will be....Time Spent in the Garden!

~*Chubby Lil' Feet*~

These chubby sweet lil' feet are soon to be scooting across the floor. My little Sloan will be crawling in no time. He is just so cute rocking back and forth on hands and knees and as you can see in the next picture he is plum tuckered out!


You always here Grandchildren are so much fun and I totally agree! I enjoyed my own children so much but it seems now I can let things go for awhile and just sit and play and that's exactly what we do! If you have children or grandkids be sure to take time and just sit and play or talk to your kids believe me you will turn around and wonder when they grew up!


I'm going to have to take a few days and catch up on some much needed work around the homestead! I actually enjoy yard work but when it comes to cleaning out closets and such UUUUGGGHHH!

Jenn brought me over some photo's a few days of their vacation in San Francisco and this is a pic of her and her hubby JJ near the Golden Gate Bridge. It was so foggy that day you could barely see the bridge. My little Jennifer Noel "Jenn" graduates from college in one week! She can hardly wait after working a full time job and attending college at night it is finally here! Congrats to you! Jenn and JJ will also celebrate their 2nd wedding anniversary on May 26th!!!!





I did manage to find some time to finish a couple of needle punch pieces. Both are my designs and I added them to our Lemon Poppy Shoppe.

Early Style Penny Rug & Pinkeep

It has been a wet windy few days. We have seen heavy flooding rains and straight line winds. While some of our nearby neighbors have suffered damages to their homes and property we were spared except for picking up everything that wasn't tied down.

I saw a family of little ducks finding a swimming hole in one of the large puddles that still stands in some of the trees. I guess the nearby pond with it's choppy waves was just to much for a swim today.

Well with these cool days again and soggy grounds planting is put off but finding time to make a penny rug and pinkeep was just right. I have been wanting to try my hand at making a early style penny rug with farm animals with a look of simplicity. My scrap basket had some scrap wools that worked just fine and I blanket stitched the animals on with some hand~dyed crochet cotton. I used osnaburg linen that I primmed with some dye trying to achieve that look of olde. I even tried my hand at feather stitching and decided I like the look for bordering the penny rug.









I have so many scrap baskets guess I just can't part with the smallest of threads. So I went to needle punching this olde~style penny rug pinkeep with a hit and miss border. Seems as though the day is not complete until I take some time to do a little stitchin'....

~*My Love for Primitive Needle Punch*~

Well today has been a day of leisure....a day away from home at a shop that offers classes of needle punch, rug hooking, embroidery, penny rugs, and quilting.
Today was a day just to sit back and enjoy simple stitching and visiting with friends. Oh yes and since I was in a store filled with wool and such of course I spent a few dollars but oh the treasures I came home with.

My daughter Jenn and I have been busy needle punching the nights away and now I need to take some time and finish these projects. This is just a sampling of the tops that are waiting to be finished in the workbasket.

Hopefully tomorrow will be filled with sunshine as we plan to go to my parents and Danny's parents homes and help out with mowing and such. I love the warmer spring days but I have to admit I dread the hot muggy days of summer!

A Full Life!

It has been a long day but a good day. All is well with my soul!



Looking back over the last years and the many struggles that we each face in life....we have to stop and say God is Good. I count my blessings for all that I have and have been through. We all have our days of trials and the outcome of those trials hinges upon our response to them. The trials of life can actually draw us nearer to Christ.



One of my favorite hymns....It is well with my Soul

When peace like a river attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea billows roll,

Whatever my lot,

Though has taught me to say,

"It is well with my soul."



It seems as though yesterday I was tending to two little toddlers but I looked up and now they are all grown up and married. Thought I would share a picture of our grandson who will be 6 months old next week. Before I now it I will look up and wonder where the days have gone. I also am sharing a picture of my lil' redheaded boy all grown up and married with his beautiful little family. Soon I will have to corner my daughter and son in law and share a photo of them.

Showers of Blessings!

Looks like this lil' frog has had a belly full of rain as he sits in our front yard!
I love a good rain and right now we are having tremendous rains...with some places flooding. Our ponds are good and full which is always a welcome sign and the newly plowed fields are soaking in the rain. I hope each of you are having a wonderful day wherever you may be.






With a day at home and some of the housework out of the way what better way to spend the afternoon....than in my sewing room. This little penny rug is just plain and simple just a couple of barn cats and a primitive barn I drew up and appliqued onto a piece of dyed linen then I added a wool backing with some pennies around the border. Just got to love a rainy day at home...where you receive showers of blessings.

What a surprise! Today we had a beautiful day here on the plains of Oklahoma. It's hard to believe we had snow flurries just last week. Don't you just love when spring makes it's grand appearance.







Evening skies bring huge cotton clouds and what better time to take a break and head on out for a walk. Oh the country life is for me. I thought I would take a walk out to the back pond...soon I will be taking some wildflower seeds back there to scatter about but I'm sure we are due for more cold days but for now we'll just enjoy this day!
















I should have took my fishing pole.... perhaps next time. So with a close of another day put a lil' song in your heart ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

A New Adventure

Well my daughter Jenn and I have joined Lemon Poppy Seeds. We opened up a store called Primitives by the Light of the Moon. We are offering our needle punch items, small hooked items, and wool applique. There are a lot of talented folks within the Lemon Poppy Seed Shoppe. We picked Primitives by the Light of the Moon because it seems as though we are up by the light of the moon making our primitives. Just not enough hours in the day! Spring ~ Tyme Down on The Farm

I just love this new lil' calf. The markings are so unusual with the white socks, white tip tail, white face and lil' belly. Just too cute!







We stopped for a few minutes on Sunday afternoon to enjoy the warm days we are having here in Oklahoma. Our lil' grandson "Sloan and Grandpa Danny" are my two cool guys! Sloan turned 5 months old on Sunday and is getting so big.






Well normally I avoid the camera like the plague but when it comes to being a proud Grandma I couldn't resist....







Danny and Lil' Dan have been busy breaking up the ground getting it ready for planting some bermuda sprigs. Hopefully they will get it in before the spring rains start.







This is our farmhouse...we have been so very blessed. We have another farmhouse that our daughter Jenn and her hubby JJ live in near our welding business. Our other home was built way back before indoor plumbing. Of course over the years it has been updated many times and is a good ol' farmhome. I sure like this new home....no more skunks crawling under the house during the middle of the night!





We just added this shop out back of the house for Danny to work on tractors and such. Of course I have a few tricycles and Sloan's wagon in there. All the boys have to have their toys!






I just happened to see a new calf being born on Sunday and grabbed my camera. It wasn't long before the new lil' one was being encouraged by all the others to get up.






Within just a few minutes after some coaxing this lil' fella made his way up!



With all the new life and ground breaking going on spring should be just around the corner. Hope you have enjoyed a little bit of our neck of the woods!

A Few Finished Projects!

I just finished up a few more needle punch pieces over the weekend. Finally took a much needed day and just stayed home. Most of these pieces were my design but I have to give credit toBrenda Gervais for the Bunny and Chick Cupboard/Pinkeep Piece I just love her patterns.

One of my sisters encouraged me to send a finished project that I have designed in for a contest... I decided to go for it, who knows maybe I'll win something. Never hurts to try!
