Little Old Lady

 

This little birdie sets on top of a jar!  I've been trying out applique's on lots of different things.

Jars filled with buttons, jelly beans, threads, snippets....lots of jars holding lots of things!

A simple little needle book to hold some of my favorite needles....chenille, straw, millners, embroidery, quilting....lots of needles!

 

I like little things.....little needles, little scissors, little scraps

Each day I work on some little something

It's therapy for me!

 

I listen to music

or to some of my favorite Bible scholars

sometimes I even watch/listen to Andy Griffith!

 

 

I stitch when I go work in the office for Danny..... that is in between phone calls and customers! 

I'm usually tagging a project along on a trip in the truck.

If we are at Home Depot I'm the little OLD lady sitting in the truck stitching away.

 

I've always loved making things....

I have piles and piles of handmade things!

Some I give away, some I display!

Drawers filled with hand stitched blocks, needle punched pieces, so many things.....

A lifetime of things

Makes me think of all the stacks of items found in little shops!

Little Girls Need Dolly Blankets

 

The little grandgirls love their dolls, pretend cooking, games, and throwing balls to PaPa.  Betty loves to wrap up babies in blankets and she needs one smaller for her little babies.

 

So out came the crayons and I must admit I haven't colored on cloth in years.  But those poor little dolls need some bright colored blankets!

So with some crème colored muslin and a few crayons we are getting to work on making some bright little blankets.



 

Once it's all colored you just need to press it with a hot iron with a paper towel over the crayons to heat set the color in.

 

Next, grab your favorite floss or thread and mine just happens to Valdani black and add some of your favorite stitches.....it's like doodling on cloth with a needle and thread!

 

Easy enough even a kiddo could have fun making their own little projects!

Spring Is In The Air

 

Are you bouncing back from the time change yet?  Spring days will soon be here and signs are starting to pop up here and there.  The yard is already in need of a good dose of weed killer!  The creepy crawly bugs are making their way back from a long winters nap :( 

 

The ground along with the trees will be awakening soon and as always we look forward to fields of green dotted with wild prairie flowers.....

With the hot and dry days we have been staying in much of the day. The heat just takes any energy right out of you. Sloan and I have been playing card and board games while Eva Mae sleeps.



He thought he might be big enough to help feed her and he insisted on helping to make her bottle. One of these days a long time from now he will make a great dad! Until then he will just help take care of his little cousin!

Keeping Busy and Beating This Heat!

It's been scorching hot and that is no lie. We are in an extreme heat wave. It's just miserable. I did mow the yard last night just to straighten things up a bit and it looked like a big dirt cloud following me.

So what to do with time spent indoors....Sloan is content with playing, watching movies, and having a book read to him. In between and late into the evenings I've been working on oxford punching, rug hooking, embroidery, applique, and painting.


I drew up the chick setting on her nest this afternoon and with my trusty oxford punch she was done in just a couple of hours.














This rug was peeking out from my UFO stack calling to me. It's a pattern by Star Rug Company and it's back on the frame and I'm wanting to finish it up to enjoy this winter....ahh for a winter's day!


I did finish up another hooked rug just need to get it bound. I'm still working on having a giveaway....just need to finish up a thing or two.

Time to head back to the frame and pull a few loops.

Stitching, Punching, and Painting

It's been a cold weekend and we climbed into the 40's add the Oklahoma wind and you need to grab a jacket. I oxford punched this little field bunny with wool yarns. I still need to bind it!



I stitched this up and just love how it turned out. It's a pattern by Nutmeg Hare.
It measures 11 x 13 inches and would like to find an old frame to put it in.



I have several wood frames and decided to do a few appliques. Just grabbed some scrap wool, scissors, material, and threads and had these done in an evening.







I also painted this flock of sheep to make some tags for our booth. Quick and simple very little details just prim.



Well the guys showed up last week with their yellow boots on and by the afternoon they had us a new parking area poured.



It's cured enough that work begins this week on putting up a roof and start enclosing the portion that will become a large gathering room.

Time to get busy this week going through a few things to put in a garage sale with my sisters and declutter a few things around here! Looks to be another busy week but with the help of a lil' boy it will fly by.

Well better go crawl under a warm quilt and catch a few winks before a lil' boy comes knocking at my door wanting some breakfast! Ahhh life is so good when what makes us happy is not in what we own but what lives within our hearts!

With a Hook and Needle

With a crochet hook I whipped up a few dishcloths....tried a simple pattern and it worked up really quick. I did these two this evening.



I've also been doing a little bit of blackwork. Both are designed by Kathy Schmitz.


Well I've been packing up a few things and come Thursday morning I'm headed north to Kansas with a couple of friends to the Rock Creek Hook~In held in Lenexa, Kansas. We plan on making some stops along the way...with one special stop to Primitive Betty's! I can hardly wait.....

Beautiful Hand Stitching!

Look what came in the mail. It's such a beautifully stitched embroidered pillow by Jessica. She does the most perfect stitches...so tiny and oh so even...I just love it! Thanks so much.

Looks like we will be having a busy end to our week working our booth at the Oklahoma City Farm Show. It's our first time to have a booth there so guess we will learn as we go. This afternoon we will be setting up and my sis "Sherry" has done so much to help us! Thank You Sherry we couldn't have been ready without you!

Isn't It True...

I stitched this lil' block up this morning and plan to make it into a mini quilt. It was a design by A Stitch In Time. Grandma Moses couldn't have said it better.



I had some leftover scraps of material so just to keep busy might as well do up a lil' kitty doodle as well. I could be working on the dreaded taxes but then again I'd much rather be stitching. Feel free to use the doodle below...

Snowman Doodle Just For You and Crafts for Toddlers

No snow here yet but it sure feels cold outside. We finally had to turn on the heater and I'm sure my Mom and Dad have been busy keeping wood in the stove at their house.
Christmas will be here soon and I finally have a dent in my shopping just wish I had it all done and wrapped....

Here's another free lil' doodle I drew up the other night feel free to stitch it up however you choose I just ask that you give me credit as the designer.




I traced around Sloan's lil' hands onto green construction paper. We used 6 hands for each tree. With the help of PaPa we got the glue, silver glitter and a disposable pan to make these cute little trees. Sloan had a really good time shaking on the glitter.



Just add a star and a trunk and you have a perfect Christmas tree made with some special lil' hands!



Horseback rides from his Daddy makes this boy have to hang on tight! Sometimes it's more like bucking bulls. Whoa Cowboy!!!!

Wintery Doodles Just For You!

Last night I found myself doodling up a bunch of snowmen that I will be posting throughout the coming days. Feel free to use them for needle punch, rug hooking, embroidery or however you choose just be sure to give me the credit as the designer.

Oh the cold winds are blowing across the plains of Oklahoma today. It makes for a good day to stay home and work on projects. This morning Sloan and I did some chores around the house...yes he's only 2 but he does love to help wash the dishes, run the hand~held vac and help load the dryer. He's such a big helper you just got to make sure he has plenty of chocolate milk and snacks because he works up an appetite.



He found a lil' time to enjoy some snacks while he watched the Disney movie "Aristocats"....he does like his movies!

Fabric Covered Boxes and a Lil' of This & That!

It's been a busy weekend and I'm pleased as can be with the fabric covered boxes I made. A group I belong to called "An American Primitive Gathering" hosted a weekend internet retreat. It's been great fun seeing all the photo's as everyone has worked on making covering boxes and completing projects.



I finished the redwork bunny announcing spring into a prim pillow.



These sweet lil' bunnies were primitively stitched with hand dyed crochet cotton to give it a time worn look then I fashioned it into a pillow stuffed with scraps of fabric to give it a olde~time feel.



I guess bunnies was the theme for the most part....finished up a sewing pocket to hold a little project.



Wool applique with just a touch of embroidery and there you have it a couple of tiny pinkeeps that would be great to take along for when you want to take work on a project on the go.



More covered boxes....may be why Danny decided to head on down to the barn as I was looking for more things to cover up with glue and fabric!



Now I'm off to see if I can start hooking the border on the "NOEL" rug that I've been working on. So it's been a productive weekend with the washing machine busily humming and several projects coming together.
