The Good Ole Summer Time

Growing the garden in tubs this year....One good thing no weeding!

Hot and Humid with a lil' bit of welcome clouds.

Sloan's chiggers aka chickens are growing!

Hello Mom and Dad can I stay the night with MoMo????

Went with Jenn and a friend yesterday to see Toy Story 3....my kind of movie! Think I might have to see if Sloan will set through it this week and go see it again.

After church this morning we went up to the big town as Sloan calls it and went to his favorite store Toys R Us....He does enjoy getting a piggy back ride from his PaPa! Ahh the days of being a Toys R Us kid!

Holiday Finishes and Overdue Thanks!

Oh Joy....I've got another one bound! This one I locker hooked using a pattern by Kelley Belfast aka kanknchester
I just love the simplicity of this one yet it speaks volumes to me!

I picked up this pattern at Country Collections a week ago and just loved stitching it up. It's a pattern by Buttermilk Basin and I just need to do a lil' hand quilting and then of course it will need bound!

Now to show you some RAK's I received....

I've been a bit behind on thanking two gals....
Pati Jane made this wonderful apron for me to use while I'm working on rugs. It has the handiest of pockets great for holding all sorts of things. Don't you just love the Got Wool? Yeah I've got Wool!!! She gave it to me while we were at camp along with a really nice bag.

My dear friend Jo while at rug camp gave me a handmade flower pin (so cute) and I've had to hide it from Sloan he really likes it, some of her beautiful hand~dyed wool, a fun little play mat for Sloan, an inspiring quilt book, and an awesome wool strip holder made from USA print....Love it!

Such thoughtfulness from some dear friends. Thank you Pati Jane and Jo :)

Townsend Frames For Sale

I've decided to do a little bit of downsizing on some of my supplies and decided to sell my Townsend Orbiter frame. My good friend Pati has decided to sell her's as well. I will be putting them on eBay later tonight. They are such wonderful frames and so well made. They rotate 360 degrees and keep your rug nice and tight as you work on it. It raises up and down and tilts to fit your hooking needs and will also fold down so that you can take it with you. The hooking area is 16 inches square and it has a black finish. If your interested you might check eBay later tonight.

I will also be listing the rotating lap frame. It comes with a case and makes it handy when traveling to rug hooking guilds, camps, or just hooking at home. The case is black and the actual hooking frame is red.
All the frames are in excellent condition.

Just in case your wondering....I'm not giving up rug hooking by any means just got way too many frames! :)

NEW YORK CITY
CAN YOU RECOMMEND...

We are thinking about going to NYC in October and then plan to drive up the coast. We went a few years ago and really enjoyed the sites and the beautiful autumn colors.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to stay while in NYC....it's hard to pick out a place to stay with so many choices and if you have been and have some ideas I would love to hear them.

Still Counting My Blessings

Life has a way of changing in just a matter of seconds.....

Thank goodness for airbags. Jenn our daughter had a wreck last Saturday night and broke her right arm. Third time around she has broken this arm and she broke the left one once. This time she did a real number on it.

So with her not being able to drive and her car totaled Mom is back to the rescue taking her to doctor appointments and surgery.

She broke both bones and had a break into the wrist area....but with lots of TLC hopefully all will heal up soon.

Sloan came for an overnight visit and made sure he kept us all entertained and kept checking on Jenn often. He was careful not to hurt her arm but insisted she go outside and see his chickens. He has resorted to calling them Baby Chiggers but keeps telling his PaPa he needs a chicken house. Can't figure out that one out and not even going to try. So we need to get busy and get those baby chiggers a house!

Tuesday afternoon I slipped up to Country Collections for a couple of hours to see what all the rug hooking gals had been working on. I didn't get any pictures of their works in progress but they each had something new to share.....I am still working on binding a few more rugs and I'm glad to say that big ol' pile of UFO's is almost done. Hopefully I can share those with you in a few days.

Be sure to count your blessings even in the struggles of life we all have so much to be thankful for.

A Thankful Lil' Boy!

While at rug hooking camp a dear friend Jo was so thoughtful and made these gifts for our grandson Sloan. He loved looking through the delightful book and checking out all the farm animals...we had to read through it several times. The lil' froggie door hanger was a big hit and is hanging on the bedroom door here for all to see. Thank you Jo you made one lil' boy thrilled with his new book and froggie! Jo also gifted me with some of her wonderful handmade items and some hand~dyed wool and I'll be sure and share pictures soon.

Sloan came for an overnight visit and was eager to help with some tractor work the next morning. He loves riding in the big green tractor.

His daddy came over Saturday morning and helped to put together a swingset. Lots of help came from Sloan as he had to try each piece out as it was added. When he left to go home we had strict orders to stay off his swing and that he Loves it very much!

I'm One Lucky......

Grandma or as Sloan calls me "MoMo"....I am so very lucky to have the joy of seeing this lil' cutie pie so often and does he ever bring smiles and laughs to my days during the week. He went to visit his other Grandma he calls "Gigi" and stayed for 12 loooong days. So today he was back and we had a picnic outside and played with bubbles and enjoyed playing in the water. Oh I wish I had one of those big bubble makers when I was a kid. I had fun playing with it, too....might just have to get one for myself!

He is a little water bug and before long I was soaked, too. It's been so hot here the cold water felt pretty good. Tomorrow we hope to go to a water park with his cousin Megan and enjoy some fun in the sun.

I've been working on binding more rugs and while Sloan splashes and plays it's a great time to work on getting a few more done....that is until the water starts coming my way :) Hope you find some time for a little fun in the sun soon.

My week at Camp!

I really enjoyed my days at the Star of Texas Rug Hooking Camp. I learned so much from Maria Barton of Star Rug Company and enjoyed working on her patterns. "Tilda" is such a sweet little rug that only took part of a day to finish of course I didn't have the distractions of having to cook or do laundry!

The little puppy dog I made for you guessed it "Sloan"....just got to finish the binding.

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year so the "Little Drummer Boy" was the first rug I worked on. Such a fun rug to do.

I got a good start on the Antique Santa and Reindeer rug. I'll be humming a few Christmas carols as I work on this one during the heat of summer.

It's hard to believe we are already into the month of June....seems the older I get the faster time flies just makes you appreciate each and every day!
