Farm Chick Days and Lots of Applique

Twice a month we have farm chick days here where gals come for the day to enjoy hooking, punching, and stitching!  Look what Christine made!  Isn't this a beautiful wool quilt!!!!

Of course we always have lunch and desserts!  Working on all those projects makes us hungry :)

Little Betty Rae is our youngest grandkiddo she is a cutie pie and is growing up way too fast!

I've been FINISHING projects these are all completed!

The sled and the cardinal are both patterns by Cricket Street Wool....I carry them in my shop and they were so fun to make!

This was a quick pattern by Primitive Gatherings....my favorite time of the year is fall.

There are a bunch more I finished plus I have MANY more I'm working on!  My little shop probably has well over 300 different applique patterns....guess I'm a bit addicted to wool applique right now!!!!

If your near central Oklahoma our next farm chick day is Saturday July 23rd if you would like to join us!

Giveaway Winners!

Thank you to all those who left comments on the previous post.  We have two winners Fran Caswell and Gayle.   I have decided you each will receive a package of wool and wool yarn!

I finished up a couple more pieces this week.  Two little wool pillows patterns by Cricket Street Wool and two primitive stockings by Cee of Early Style Penny Rugs.

Many prayers today for all those in California.  My heart goes out to all of those families.  Please take a little extra time to give those near and dear to you an extra hug, tell them you love them, or an extra phone call.

Could It Be

I am way ahead for Christmas!  Been working on a new pattern for a wool applique stocking for this coming fall and put this one together.
It is nice and big enough to put plenty of goodies in.

Dear Ol' Santa has a brand new suit!

Love how the manger scene turned out....simple but full of meaning!

A little Gingie girl with a pocket that stays open to hold a tiny surprise.

The sunshine has finally peeked out and the baby calves are all over the farmyard.

As Eva Mae says......Awe Aren't They Sweet!

Holiday Finishes with a Helper

I finished a couple of hooked pieces.  A fun little snowman hooked in wooly strips from 8 to 9.  Fast and fun to hook.

Added a patchwork piece to the back.

A chunky Christmas Tree with hand cut strips.

Another patchwork finish to the back.

Now to show you my help....

Don't you love the little monster peeking out behind the tree :)

Sloan wanted to do some tree trimming so he snipped off the tails.    Notice my son in the background with his big bushy beard...reminds me of the young red headed Santa we see on the old Christmas show.

Next he wanted to try hooking and wow he pulled 5 loops!

I should have got a picture of him grinning he has lost his first tooth,  maybe next time :)

Lost In A Forest

Where is your focus this Christmas?  I have been asking myself the same question.  Do you sometimes feel like you are lost in a forest of a million trees.  Every direction you look something needs to be done...the cards need written, the gifts need bought and wrapped, the meals planned, oh and don't forget the laundry, paying the bills, taking care of the kids, and the list just goes on!

I asked Sloan yesterday when we were just taking a few moments to talk about his day and I asked him.... Do you know what Christmas is REALLY about?  Much to my surprise it wasn't about Santa and gifts he said Jesus being born.  Wisdom from a 6 year old :)

Have you ever wondered about the innkeeper of Bethlehem?  The census was being taken the city was full and here was a lady and her husband that had traveled so far and her time to deliver was so near.  I'm sure the innkeeper felt like he was in a forest....everywhere he turned something to do....his inn was full.  Nearby in his stable this woman and her husband found a place to deliver their baby OUR LORD!
The innkeeper was so busy he missed the visiting shepherds, the wise men, and the angels....yes right in his own backyard.

May we all step out of the forest and not be so pre-occupied this Christmas to worship the KING and put Christ back into the center of our lives!

May your hearts be filled with JOY this Christmas Season and into the New Year.

Snow and Sleet For Christmas

Hoping each of you enjoyed Christmas with family and friends.
We will be having our family Christmas here on Saturday.  Our Christmas brought mostly sleet and a bit of snow.

The ducks flew away as I was walking around the pond.

Just enough snow to make a bit of mud.  The pond is down so much from the lack of rains.

With the sunshine today the snow is quickly melting.

It's been a good day for a  quick walk and a bit of crafting!

Santa's Grinning and I am Too!

Tis Christmas Eve and I'm thrilled to pieces that I was the very lucky winner of the "Grinning Santa" from Lori of Notforgotten Farm. He is just the sweetest guy and brings a smile everytime I look at it! Thank you Lori I'll treasure it always :)

Finally the packages are wrapped and under the tree. Sloan and I baked dozens and dozens of cookies to give out to the neighbors and a few old~time friends. Of course we had to have a few ourselves. I even found the lil' toot attached to my cookie jar with his handcuffs. He does love cookies!

We have a busy day ahead of us....a surprise for Danny's folks that we need to put together and then there is lots of cooking and still some cleaning to do. I'm hoping to add the movie It's a Wonderful life in there somewhere. I watch it every year and haven't seen it yet!

Wishing each of you a day filled with Christmas excitement.

Hark The Hearld Angels Sing!

From all of us to all of you....Wishing you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!
It's time to gather near friends and family, a time to give thanks for all of the blessings we have received and we as a family have been truly blessed.

And even though we miss the ones that are gone we still can look back on the memories that we hold so dear. The love and joy that has touched our lives.

The gift sent from above so long ago for you and for me. A little baby born in a stable, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. We do have so much to be thankful for this Christmas.

Hark! the Herald Angels sing,
Glory to the new-born King.

Joyful all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies,
With the angelic host proclaim,
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

May you always seek him!

Tis The Season!

It's Christmas week and I've almost finished wrapping all the presents. The groceries have been bought before the stores become CRAZY!!!!

We enjoyed seeing the lights out at the lake.

I've been trying to use up the big basket of scrap worms. Scrappy rugs are actually my favorite. Reminds me of my grandma's quilts, afghans, and rugs they use to make.

I'm also binding a few rugs.

Another scrappy rug on the frame.

Tomorrow is my niece Megan's 9th birthday so for lunch the family will be gathering here for a party. I've got lots of games and crafts planned and will be having pizza and of course birthday cake. School is out for Christmas break so let the fun begin....Tis the Season to be Jolly!

Christmas Parties!

Sloan enjoys going to a lil' preschool twice a week for a few hours. He will be having a party tomorrow and today we made these lil' snowman sacks to take with a few goodies inside.

He took a few breaks and played with the snowmen and super heroes.

Asleep in PaPa's chair.

Tuesday's Christmas party at Country Collections.....Food, Rug Hooking, Gift exchanges, and lots of fun!

Chocolate Delight~ A dessert my daughter Jenn made a few days ago and we enjoyed it and it's super easy to make.

Layer in a bowl bite sized brownies, chocolate pudding, cool whip, and then on top add chocolate chips, toffee bits, and I added in a few pecan pieces. Enjoy!
