Thankful Today!

A big thank you to all those who have served and who are still serving our wonderful country! I truly feel blessed to live in the USA! We have so many freedoms here that sometimes we take it all for granted. Not only has the men and women who have been and are in the service have sacrificed so much but so has all of their families!

******GOD BLESS AMERICA******

This morning I went over to Mom and Dad's place. Mom was ready to get started in the garden. Doesn't she have some big dogs :) Actually she has 3 huge dogs.

Dad was about to head to the hay patch....it's been a good year for hay!

In the first garden (yes they have more than one) they have onions, corn, green beans, blackeyed peas, beets, cucumbers, squash, watermelon, and cantelope. I bet I missed something.

Just look at that row of beans.....We picked green beans for two hours and still didn't get them all.

Garden #2....tomatoes at least 100 plants. Someone asked Dad why he had such a big garden and his answer.....I suppose me and Sue (my Mom) will have a LOT of friends come summer time.

Lots of green tomatoes!

15 gallons of green beans, squash, and cukes!

A Spark Of Creativity!

The last month has been a little lacking on creativity but I'm not complaining. Other things have been taking my attention. Over the weekend I was blessed with some new art supplies and I just couldn't wait to give them a try.

Have you ever tried copic markers? They blend beautifully but are a bit pricey. If you enjoy coloring give them a try....purchase just a few and a blender and you will pleasantly surprised at what they can do.

The last two are done with KOI watercolors....a brilliant dry pan of watercolor that I truly love!

Inspired by the quote....The grass is always greener on the other side!

She's a Keeper!

Sloan was thrilled with his new little cousin. He was so funny he said he loves her and wants to take her to his home and keep her forever. Not sure Aunt Jenn would allow that :) He was very taken with how tiny her hands are. He was very careful with her and has lots of questions. He had to tell her that she is not allowed to touch knives and can't play with tiny toys yet. He has all the rules don't you know!

She is a little doll and of course I've spent some time rocking her and letting her know just how much we all love her.

It's been a very busy week but I still find time here and there to do a little bit of crafty things. Watercolor is easy enough to put up when I hear "Momo I need you" and off I go.
It's time for the hayfields to be cut so Danny has been busy getting the equipment ready and has started cutting. There is always work to be done around here!

Frank's workshop is in just about 2 weeks and we do have one opening so if anyone would be interested in the spot let me know.

As a new week has started the list is long of things to be done....I'm betting yours is too!

It's April....Counting down the days!

The bed is ready, the little clothes are all washed and waiting, plenty of blankets, diapers, and wipes, too! The owls are all saying WHO, WHO is coming.....Little Eva Mae is due at the end of the month. Our daughter and son~in~law are getting excited and before you know it they will have a sweet baby girl to hold.
Sloan will have a new little cousin to play with and teach her all the rules or so he says!
Ahhhh.....anticipation!

This little bunny hit the "jackpot" with this big carrot!
While I play so does a little boy....
He REALLY likes monsters! Just wish I could get him to write his name....

I'm thinking it's just about time for another giveaway so will see what I can come up with!

Watercolor to Wool

My mind has been spinning with lots of ideas. I doodle them down and sometimes I will add a little watercolor to some of them. This little whimsical couple looks like they might be on a first date. She is all googlie~eyed and doesn't he look a bit nervous!
Might make a fun little card or tag. How about a hooked rug....

Been working on a primitive little booklet of Fall and Halloween doodles just need to work up a few more samples. More on that later.

The cows are sure enjoying the beautiful green grasses that are growing and we now have 2 brand new little calves. The are always so cute out playing in the fields. I'll have to take my camera along next time I go for a walk.

Pistachio Cake.....It's Green and Delicious!

I've been into the watercolors once again! Made a watercolor pistachio cake and while I was at it baked one, too. Some of the rug hooking gals are coming over tomorrow for a day of pulling loops so we can enjoy some cake for dessert!

Feel free to right click and print the recipe.

Someone asked about the rugs in the post below. All of the designs are by Sally Kallin of Pine Island Primitives. She sells the patterns on her website.

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy St. Patricks Day.

Does This Hat Make Me Look Fat?

Just can't seem to put the pen and watercolors down. Been thinking about making a few patterns. These lil' chicks look as if they are ready for spring! What do you think "Does this hat make me look fat?"

Mrs. Long Ears has a basketful of fresh flowers. It took her all morning but after going through the fields she has found enough to fill her basket.

Ol' Percival has had enough of this winter and is ready for spring in his brand new jacket!

Okay I'll stop! Had a great weekend with some of the gals. Once a month I am inviting whoever would like over for a day of hooking, punching, stitching, painting, knitting, whatever. We eat and play...lots of fun so if you are in the neighborhood we would love for you to stop by and join us!

Kay is a real go getter when it comes to hooking up rugs! She almost always has one or two to share that is done or almost done.

Laura and Kay...

My sister in law Ellen and her hubby John came for the day. John is really getting the hang of punchneedle and has even done some oxford punch needle, too. My mom began a oxford punch project of a rooster and almost has it finished.
Sloan's preschool teacher Miss Teresa came over and brought her featherweight sewing machine and worked on a few blocks. Veronica is doing a punchneedle piece by Maggie B. I didn't get a snapshot of "Kathy" but she learned how do punchneedle and boy did she catch on fast!

Well back to a doodle or two before bedtime!

Thank You!!!!!

Just want to say a Big Thank You to all those who stop by to read what is happening around our farm. I've been keeping myself busy pulling loops, doodling, laundry, and of course playing with the lil' guy. I need to take a break and catch up on all of you!
Here is a little hint the above drawing was done with a felt tip pen....and then I added a little water with a brush and it made for some beautiful shading! A quick lil' project the next time you might be doodling.

I have so many ideas floating around and have been putting them in a sketchbook of sorts. Feel free to grab the line drawing and hook, stitch, paint, or punch you up a little ditty!

Enjoy the weekend and remember to take some time to PLAY!

Can It Be?

That there is a prediction of SNOW for the weekend! Keeping my fingers crossed that we get enough to make a snowball :)

Thinking about making this little drawing into a rug! Sure makes me think of spring. First I need to finish up a few others that are in the works.

Going From One Thing To Another

As often as the wind blows which is almost non~stop around here I go from one thing to another. I've been playing with the pens, markers and watercolors this evening. Of course had to add Sloan's little scissors and crayons.

Well off to pull a few loops or bind on one of my rugs! Told you I go from one thing to another :)

Crayola Watercolors While We Wait....

It doesn't take a lot to entertain a lil' boy! Crayola Watercolor has some really great colors in the 24 pack and it works perfect for a 4 year old as well as his Momo!

Guess what he is painting....look out it's alien and zombie blood. Ewww that's right he's all boy!

Did you know you can turn blobs into flowers?

Just add a little black sharpie pen to the blobs and there you go. I like to make little thank you cards to put in items I ship. Just something a certain little boy and I can do while we wait for his folks to pick him up for the evening.

It has started raining and we can use each and every drop. It's been way too dry for way too long. Well got a group of gals coming over on Friday so better clean up a mess or two!!!!

Wool and Watercolor

I've been using up a few of the scrapbasket worms. Didn't hardly make a dent in the overflowing basket. Oh well they will be there when I get to them.

I go from one thing to another seems I want to do it all at once. Playing with watercolors again. Might just hook a rug or two with these lil' patterns.

Well I'm off to help haul off some calves to the market with Danny. My mom and dad have 26 of the lil' ones ready to go. Yippeee Ti Yi Ya....get along lil' doggies.

Old and New Adventures

Just finished another hooked mat and it's bound...hooray! That is one of my goals this year keep up on the binding :)

Another goal is trying new things...I'm taking a couple of online classes just for fun and it also works into my schedule.

The first one is a Life Journal of 2012...going to try and document 2012 and a few things I did along the way.

This project is a class by Stephanie of Homegrown Hospitality.

Next a class in creating something everyday for 30 days.

It's a class of doodling, painting, sketching, taking photos. and looking for inspiration in what is around you. Here is my lil' doodle and watercolor inspired by Kiwi fruit.
This class is by Alisa Burke...stop by her blog you will be amazed at what she creates and with a new lil' baby girl.

And if that isn't enough new starts....

I have been crocheting since I was just a lil' kid but have decided I want to try knitting so found some good online videos and talked with a lady in a yarn shop about some sites online to check out and look it's not pretty by any means but it's a beginning!

So I encourage you to step out of the comfort zone and give something new a try!

Water Colors and Woolley Nights!

Old habits are hard to break! I'm getting sleepy very sleepy....that's what I'm telling myself anyway :) There is a pillow in there calling my name and in a few minutes I'm going to go find it! It's hard to put down the paintbrush, pens, and......

the wool and hook! Started this rug from the scraps left in the bowl from the previous rug.

I'll be picking up a paintbrush and roller later....I'm trading out a couple nights of painting Miss Eva Mae's nursery in exchange for Jenn wrapping presents for me!

She is decorating with owls so it should be a "Hoot" to see what she has planned :)

An Empty Pipe~ Free Doodle

Well we all know smoking isn't good for you so Frosty enjoys an empty pipe! Drew up this lil' doodle just for the Holiday season. Feel free to right click and print it out. Use just Frosty or Santa or both!

Been doodling a little more using some hang tags and a couple of book marks.

I'm kind of itching to get back to the wool. I purchased a snowman pattern from Cathy over at the Orange Sink and I want to have it done before Christmas comes! So better pull out some wool and get busy!

Oh and a little funny story. Our grandson "Sloan" goes to MoMO's day out twice a week for a couple of hours and really loves playing with the other kids. Well he has informed me he has a "girlfriend" and tells us that she is the MOST BEAUTIFUL Woman in town and that she has really nice hair and good brains! Boy are we going to be in trouble when he is a teenager! Hope you got a chuckle.....I know we did!

Wishing each of you a warm and cozy week filled to the brim with Holiday Cheer :)
