We Interrupt This Nice, Quiet Life
To bring you the dog that is into everything. So continues the story of the lil' dog named Pipsqueak. Able to leap over baskets in a single bound, wrestling tissue paper to the ground and shredding it into let's say hundreds of tiny pieces, snatching up fat quarters of wool and prancing around like they belong to her when in fact I for one know they very well do not! Let's not mention the balls of yarn that were strung from one end of the room to the other. All of this in about oh let's say 10 minutes.
Sloan matter of factly let her know that his toys do not belong to her and that he does not share his toys if she plans on chewing on them.
I expect I'm going to have to lay down the law myself on the wool, yarn and just overall any and all craft goods. Oh and let me not forget shoes....they are off limits, too!
Could be why that little jingle bell stays on that collar so I can keep up with one adventurous pipsqueak.
Oh what will tomorrow bring! :)

Oxford Punch Needle and Playing Chase
It's been a beautiful day here in Oklahoma and just perfect for sitting outside and working on a punch needle. This one I punched up using an oxford punchneedle #10 on monk's cloth. Today as Sloan played outside I finished the binding on it.
Sloan and Pipsqueak got along quite well and with a little bit of rain we had this afternoon it made for a for a few muddy areas....just right for one curious lil' pup.
Before the afternoon was over Sloan had helped me to give her a bath. He sure is a good lil' helper!
Well they are forecasting more rain tomorrow but we won't complain it helps it feel like Autumn Days are really on the way!

*Happy Labor Day*
It's been a busy day here on the farm. We went to church this morning and had lunch with my Mom afterwards and one of my cousins and his wife. Just love visiting with family!
Afterwards Danny and I came home and I picked some of the last little tomatoes and donated them to the chickens for a Sunday treat...they do love those juicy red tomatoes.
Our little dog "Pipsqueak" likes the water. She is so nosy with the chickens and not scared a bit.
It was an absolutely beautiful day to be outside and while Danny took care of working on some farm equipment I did a little yardwork.
This evening I've been binding one of the hooked rugs and looked up to see I have a little wool thief. Someone has been in my scrap basket snatching pieces of wool.
Monday we will be off for a visit to my lil' sister Bobbie's home for lunch. One last hoorah before the end of summer. Wishing each of you a safe and Happy Labor Day!

Pipsqueak and That's Not Wilson
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the Loose Caboose Fest with entertainment, crafts, food and lots of visiting. I grew up in Purcell, Oklahoma and it's downtown is still going strong with antique stores where department stores, the hotel, and theater once use to be....changes come and go but you can still go into these buildings and see and just feel the atmosphere of the history that once was there.
Sandra, Pati Jane, and I sure enjoyed the day and found a few lil' things to take home, too.
Here's a few shots of our booth.
We did surprisingly well with our little booth.
The guy next to us was not Wilson from Home Improvements. Remember the show with Tim The Toolman Taylor???? Nope that's not him at all why that's Danny of DJ Trailers....
Yes...that's my guy! He had a booth next to us and by the end of the afternoon we were setting in his booth enjoying the shade.
Not to be forgotten...."Pipsqueak" our new little addition to the family. She's been busy checking out the farm and I think she likes what she sees.
Well it's been a very long day and tomorrow is church so I better call it a day! Hope you had a wonderful day in your neck of the woods!

~*MaXinE*~ A Fun Loving Kind Of GaL!
Primitive Hooked Rug
I just love the vibrant orange and purple in this little rug. I drew Maxine up last night after an exercise class that my daughter has at the local Vocational School. Twice a week in the evenings we meet to do some aerobics and stretching and one of the ladies that attends is Maxine. She is 81 years young and she does so well in the class....I hope to be in as good of shape as she is when and if I make it to that stage in my own life. So with that said.....Here is my lil' hooked rug Maxine!
I've also got another one setting on the frame that will be Maxine's beau so stay tuned!
Well the boxes are about packed for the Loose Caboose Festival that will be held Saturday in Purcell, Oklahoma. So if you are in the area stop by....
A storm blew in overnight and dropped the temps down and the windows are open welcoming in a cool breeze. Got to love the smell of rain! Wishing each of you a safe and happy Holiday weekend.

Waiting On Autumn
Don't you just love this hooked rug that was designed by Buttermilk Basin. I finished up hooking it a couple of days ago and will work on binding it in the next couple of days.
Then I drew up this big Jack O'Lantern and finished him up last night. Now I have him to bind so I'll be working on him, too.
Pati Jane and I will be doing a craft festival called The Loose Caboose on Saturday and I've been busy finishing up a few pieces. Sloan helped me today fill several boxes of goodies...he does love to help :)
Well back to work....

Needle Punch, Rug Hooking, Quilting, and a Wool Santa
Well what a Saturday! Danny had the alarm set for 4:10 am yes AM and he headed out the door to go striper fishing. I love to fish but this was a guy trip. I had other plans for my day.
I loaded up the truck and I spent my day at Country Collections giving a lesson on needle punch. This was Barbara's first time to give it a try and she did an excellent job on her pumpkin and crow.

Pati Jane taught a class on making a wool Santa....

Karen was busy with her Mom taking care of customers and putting out all the lunch goodies!

Rug hooking lessons for first timers!

Sandra was giving Renae a lesson on piecing a quilt.

Pati Jane helping a little on the rug hooking lesson.

Sandra taught rug hooking and quilting today....she is multi~talented!

Karan is a first time rug hooker and did well on pulling her loops. She is concentrating and so intent on getting those loops perfect!

Judy is also a first time rug hooker and did a great job on her rug also. They both were pulling up loops easier by the end of class and we found out that Judy and Karan have been friends since 5th grade....how great is that!

Vonda and Karen are the owners of Country Collections and have worked hard to make this a wonderful place for gals to come and sit, stitch, hook, paint, needle punch, rug hook and find all kinds of patterns and supplies. So....If you are ever in Moore, Oklahoma be sure to stop in I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Well we had a fun~filled day....Danny caught some fish, I got to enjoy visiting with new and old friends. Hope your day was a good one, too!

Pumpkin Patch Doodle

I've been doodling around again and thought I would share a free lil' pumpkin patch doodle.
A week or so ago I made a bunch of lil' applique pieces and decided the other night to turn a few of them into mini pinkeeps small enough to take along in projects on the go.
I also started another little fall hooked rug "AUTUMN" by Buttermilk Basin....seems I can't make my mind up if I want to hook, punch, or stitch.
Here it is Friday again and another work week is just about completed. The kids around here are all back in school and Friday night football games begin next week and it will be nice to sit in the stands and watch my nephew play and listen to my niece as she marches in the band. Summer is almost over and those autumn days are on the way!

~* Farmer Jack *~
Primitive Needle Punch Rug
I've dusted off my punch needle once again and found my thread and now I've got this sweet lil' guy in overalls ready to find a new home. He will be listed on eBay in the morning.
Tomorrow we are suppose to be about 15* cooler and it will be so nice not to be in triple digits. Today we reached 104* just too hot for anyone working outside.
Well I'm off to finish up a few more projects before I call it a night. Nothing like working by the light of the moon!

Happy Jack
I'm smiling as big as this ol' jack o'lantern he has been hooked, bound, and a handmade tag placed on the back and listed on eBay. I haven't listed any items in such a long time but might as well get started back.
I've enjoyed the afternoon in the coolness of the house and located my punch needle and threads and have been working on a few fall projects.
Our daughter Jenn begins a new class on exercise wellness this week at the local Vo-Tech school as an evening instructor so I plan to attend. I can definetely use benefits from the stetching and exercise. Now if I can just avoid the mexican food and desserts but I'm not making any promises.
Hoping each of you have enjoyed your weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead.

The Cowboy and His Horse

Someone special stopped by the shop today...Yes I'm a working gal today and I would much rather be home but duty calls twice a week. Sloan had to come to work this morning too and by 10:30 this morning he was quite tired of being cooped up.
Well his PaPa Bob (my Dad) stopped in for a visit and Sloan quickly hands him a piece of paper and a pen and before you know it a cowboy of sorts and a horse appears. Now I admit my Dad isn't an artist with pen and paper but he has been known to create some beautiful things out of wood he has made tables, a gossip bench, earrings, and many other things for us girls and my Mom.
My Mom is the actual Artist in the family and has made lots of paintings using oils, pastels, and watercolors.
It seems like Mom and Dad have put away their woodworking and painting tools and for the last several years have been busy with their own farmlife. Dad stays busy with planting, cutting hay, taking care of the cattle and Mom does the household chores as well as tends to the garden, her beloved chicks, and does enough canning to feed the entire county.
Well it's been a long day at work but I can't complain....Sloan has been gone this afternoon to visit his great~grandma and one of his cousins and I've been whipping the Ol' Jack rug and before you know it the work day will be done and I'll be off for home to see about some farmlife of my own!

Ol' Fashion Jack
I've pulled out the wool and a scrap piece of monk's cloth and what do you know an Ol' Fashion Jack is appearing right before my still blurry eyes. It's been hard to read but pulling loops has kept me busy this evening.
I hope to have it finished up within a day or so and listed on eBay. I haven't taken time to list anything in what seems like a long time. I would like to get started back to offering a few hooked and needle punched pieces.
I've got lots of Autumn and Winter pieces I'm anxious to get started on that sometimes it's hard just knowing where to begin.
Well I'm off to pull a few more loops!

Boys and Their Toys
Finally finished up the Posey Runner and yes I did get it ready to be bound....Believe me I've learned my lesson on not letting them pile up. This pattern was by Saltbox Primitive Woolens.
Hot summer days are still lingering on. The relief comes from enjoying playtime in the water.
Sloan's little chicks love to see him coming...he shares his watermelon and tomatoes with them and he chases them as well as they chase him. Today he found a feather and was busy painting water onto the tree until this curious chick stole his feather then the chase was on!
Well seems like yesterday one certain lil' boy with a certain lil' dart gun accidently shot his Momo straight in the eye....OUCH! Well with a quick trip to the eye doctor everything should be well in a couple of days. . Let's just say the dart gun has been put away until he's about 5 years old. Boys and there toys!

Smilin' Jack

Before you know it the leaves will be turning colors, a crisp coolness will be in the air and porches will be decorated with pumpkins, gourds, and mums. The kids are returning to school, the last of the summer days are here and I can hardly wait for the Autumn moons and the smell of woodsmoke in the air.
Here is a little doodle of "Jack" while you wait for Autumn to arrive. Feel free to use him in whatever way you choose.

Twenty~Nine Years

Our first date April 27th, 1979

Starting a life together August 14th, 1981
Lots of memories...lots of growing....lots of sharing....lots of making do
Well we certainly have built a home filled with lots of love, family, and friends. What a blessing to have shared them with the one I love!
Thursday night we headed out to spend a couple of days together away from home and enjoyed stopping and visiting the Saltbox Primitive Woolens in Warsaw, Mo. Danny is always a good sport about taking me places.
Then it was off to Branson, Mo to enjoy seeing a few sights and catch a show.
Back home we spent the day going to church, having lunch with our daughter, and catching up on a few things around the house. It's nice to get away for a few days but coming home is always the best.
