Sizzling Summer Days!

Can you believe we are still having days of well over 100 degrees. Yesterday Pati and I were melting in the shade as we would look at the Bank clock and it would taunt us with between 101 and 105 degrees. Thank goodness we were on the side of the festival with a bit of shade. I just don't do hot summer days.

We did have a busy day and we were happy with the sales that tallied up by the end of the day. The Loose Caboose festival has certainly grown over the last few years.

In between customers I worked on a simple little pumpkin needle punch that I will be putting on a round box I have.

Think I might even hook this lil' guy up and make it a chairpad, too.

Have a safe and Happy Labor Day Holiday!

Loose Caboose Festival 2012

It's that time again for the Loose Caboose Festival located at downtown Purcell, Ok. Come enjoy a day of fun if your in the area. There will be rides for the kiddos, crafts and more crafts, and of course tempting foods. The festival will begin at 9 am and end around 4 pm.

After that enjoy the rodeo going on at the Expo center!

Pati Jane and I will be setting up with our handmade goods and we hope you can stop by. The antique shops will be staying open later in the day just in case you want to stop by and pick up a few goodies!

Fun In The Sun

The Loose Caboose Festival was one of the best this year. We were busy almost all day and the crowd was steady all day long.

I think there were around 60 booths with lots of different offerings.

Pati Jane and Sandra having a good time. Pati made some great smelling fall potpourri and it sure brought the customers in to our booth. Sandra is a big help all throughout the day and we are so glad she made the trip!

Danny was set up right beside us and let us set with him in his booth so we could use our whole booth to spread out.

Well this ol' farmgirl is worn out but had a great time. Hope you are enjoying your weekend and finding time to be with friends and family.

Getting Ready For The Loose Caboose

Busy week ahead gathering up all the lil' things I have been painting, stitching, and hooking. Sad to say but Oklahoma doesn't have a lot of handmade craft fairs anymore. I have always enjoyed going to the Loose Caboose Festival in downtown Purcell, Oklahoma. There is a lot of history just on Main Street. There are several antique shops that once were used as a hotel, theatre, and department stores.
Purcell was founded as a railroad town in 1887. Part of Main street still has the original brick roads.

This coming Saturday, September 3rd....Main Street will be transformed into a place with live music, food, and handmade crafts. So if your in the area we would love for you to stop by!

The weathermen are forecasting a COLD front coming this way....we may just drop down into the 80's sometime next week. I sure hope so we are ready for some cooler days.

Pipsqueak and That's Not Wilson

It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the Loose Caboose Fest with entertainment, crafts, food and lots of visiting. I grew up in Purcell, Oklahoma and it's downtown is still going strong with antique stores where department stores, the hotel, and theater once use to be....changes come and go but you can still go into these buildings and see and just feel the atmosphere of the history that once was there.

Sandra, Pati Jane, and I sure enjoyed the day and found a few lil' things to take home, too.

Here's a few shots of our booth.

We did surprisingly well with our little booth.

The guy next to us was not Wilson from Home Improvements. Remember the show with Tim The Toolman Taylor???? Nope that's not him at all why that's Danny of DJ Trailers....

Yes...that's my guy! He had a booth next to us and by the end of the afternoon we were setting in his booth enjoying the shade.

Not to be forgotten...."Pipsqueak" our new little addition to the family. She's been busy checking out the farm and I think she likes what she sees.

Well it's been a very long day and tomorrow is church so I better call it a day! Hope you had a wonderful day in your neck of the woods!

Waiting On Autumn

Don't you just love this hooked rug that was designed by Buttermilk Basin. I finished up hooking it a couple of days ago and will work on binding it in the next couple of days.

Then I drew up this big Jack O'Lantern and finished him up last night. Now I have him to bind so I'll be working on him, too.

Pati Jane and I will be doing a craft festival called The Loose Caboose on Saturday and I've been busy finishing up a few pieces. Sloan helped me today fill several boxes of goodies...he does love to help :)

Well back to work....

It's Been A Long Time

It's been a long time since I did a craft show and with the help of PatiJane we plan on having a booth offering some of our handmade items. We have a few months to plan and prepare since it won't be until the last Saturday in August....and knowing Oklahoma days it's sure to be a hot one!

Purcell is a small town with a big heart....matter of fact it is called the Heart of Oklahoma. It was the very place I was born and raised in. It's just up the road a ways from where I live now and if I want to find a good place to have Mexican food, buy a few groceries or visit a large number of antique shops I just hop in the truck and I'm there in a matter of 15 minutes.

Purcell was founded back in 1887 as a railroad town and was named after E.B. Purcell of Manhatten, Kansas who was an ATSF Railroad Director.

Some of the buildings on Main Street are rich with history. The Hotel Love is a 3 story Victorian Brick Building that once had visitors spend the night is now a very beautiful antique store and bed and breakfast. You can actually feel like you step back in time as you enter the lil' rooms upstairs as you enjoy all the wonderful lil' treasures.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(Love Hotel)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Old Canadian Theatre once a place to watch movies is also a great place to find antiques.
Main Street still is partially paved with bricks and there you'll find people ready to greet you with a hello and a smile. Although it's grown since I was a kid it's still good to drive through the old neighborhood where I would walk to school or the library with my sisters and remember the days of my childhood.
Well I blew the dust off the punch needle and started punching up a few items....
I finished a few appliqued pinkeeps....I'm wanting to keep everything small and simple. Then again I have lots and lots of those hooked rugs...guess I better get busy!
