O Christmas Tree

 

I've been keeping the wool and hook busy making some fun rugs.  Can't you just imagine this dear ol' snowman singing.......

Finished up this simple flower and sure like how it turned out!

 

Happy to say I have bound 4 rugs but as always still have more to bind!

 

Think I will go pull a few loops and see what those wooly worms will turn into :)

*Snowball Fun*

I admit it sometimes I'm just as much a kid as this little guy. Even before he had time to eat breakfast we were both out having a little snowball fun. He kept telling me this one is going to make a mark! Boys :)



He was very impressed with the footprints so he started going backwards so he could watch the footprints appear.



Well we can say we had enough snow to make a snowball....now we barely have a dusting left perfect weather!

Another Winter Day!

I pulled on my boots, coveralls, jacket, hat, and gloves and went for a walk around the farm. Oklahoma can be pretty windy and as cold as it today thought I better bundle up!



Our feathered friends are happy to share a meal at the feeder.



The sun is shining even if the skies are a bit gray.



The pond is icy in spots and quite muddy.



Doesn't seem to bother the ducks that are happy to take a swim on a cold day.



Don't believe I'll be going for a ride in the boat anytime soon!

Saw a few deer tracks.



Yesterday I enjoyed some fun at Country Collections at our monthly rug hooking guild.
Pati was working on this penny rug.



Sandra finished hooking her Autumn rug and was ready to begin the binding.



Kaye showed some of the finishes she had accomplished.





Well it was a good day today to take a walk around the farm but it feels even better to be back inside. Looking forward to keeping warm and working on a few projects tonight! I think I'll go find something for supper first :)

Winter Days

Old man winter has made his way to Oklahoma again. It wasn't the pretty white snows that caused alot of problems but the thick ice that coated anything and everything and in return made for quite a huge power outage. The nearby town was completely dark for days and still there are a lot of homes without power. We were lucky enough to have ours restored late this afternoon but it is still flickering and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes out again.

Of course this lil' one thought nothing of it as he had his own personal flashlight and made sure he joined in all the activities.



Riding in his PaPa's old feed truck to take care of the little bottle calves was part of his chores!



He tried to offer them some hay but they aren't quite old enough for it just yet.




Bottles with warm milk now that hits just the right spot!



Feeding the birdies is also on the list.



Off in the distance are 3 deer grazing for a little something to eat.



The trees are encased in ice and they are a pretty sight at night although sunshine would be a great sight to see. It's been a bit on the bleak side here.





The cows are staying well fed with extra grain besides the bales of hay. Inside tonight I plan to enjoy the overhead lights and hook a little on a challenge rug. I sure don't know how those pioneer women did it so long ago in their sod homes with just an oil lamp. Makes you appreciate the modern conveniences that we take for granted today! Bless all those men who have worked non-stop restoring so many of us with power and are still working to restore those that are still without.

This Is Not Good....

This isn't good and it just keeps coming. I don't even like to go outside it sounds like shotguns going off with all the trees and limbs falling.

I managed to get some more birdseed scattered as the birds are still looking for some lil' treats.

ICE SKATING...YIKES!

Well the weatherman got it right this time...Ice and then we are suppose to have snow with blizzard like conditions. So far the electricity is still on but they are predicting major power outages. The grocery store yesterday was crazy....lots of folks stocking up on batteries, sandwich supplies, and of course the cookie isle was about empty wouldn't you know it!

I'm at work today and within minutes everything is coated in ice. Danny is bringing home 2 bottle fed calves from his Mom and Dad's house so they don't have to get out in the bad weather to take care of them. So two lil' calves will have a nice warm place in our barn and when Sloan comes to visit he'll get to help with the feedings. We just make a cowboy out of him yet!

Blizzard in Oklahoma!

Uncommon words for sure. They say it hasn't been this bad since 1914. The winds are howling at 50 to 60 miles an hour and just about all the interstates are shut down as well as the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. They say the malls are still jam packed though...
Not me I'm home the house is cleaned up and hopefully I can get the cooking done.



The guys are always out and about doing something feeding the cows, working out in the shop, or something that just can't seem to wait!



Christmas with all the family has been rescheduled for Saturday at lunch with the weather being so bad. Multi car pile ups are happening all over the state and I would rather have everyone safe. So tonight I'll be enjoying warm cocoa and find some time to work on my snowman rug.....Let it Snow!

Wintery Doodles Just For You!

Last night I found myself doodling up a bunch of snowmen that I will be posting throughout the coming days. Feel free to use them for needle punch, rug hooking, embroidery or however you choose just be sure to give me the credit as the designer.

Oh the cold winds are blowing across the plains of Oklahoma today. It makes for a good day to stay home and work on projects. This morning Sloan and I did some chores around the house...yes he's only 2 but he does love to help wash the dishes, run the hand~held vac and help load the dryer. He's such a big helper you just got to make sure he has plenty of chocolate milk and snacks because he works up an appetite.



He found a lil' time to enjoy some snacks while he watched the Disney movie "Aristocats"....he does like his movies!

~*The 1st Day of Winter and Birthday Wishes*~

Winter is the season in which people try to keep the house as warm as it was in the summer, when they complained about the heat. ~Author Unknown

Winter's blast has blanketed much of our country and looks like it is here to stay for awhile. Time to keep the kettle going to keep the cups steaming with hot apple cider and mugs of hot cocoa topped with whipped cream. A time to wear flannel pj's and wool socks, throw another log on the fire and cozy up under the covers with a good book or movie.

Celebrating a special day was my lil' niece "Megan" today she turned 7. Here are the 3 M's as I call them...Maggie, Mandy Jo, and Megan!

I just finished up another hooked rug. Now I just need to get this one bound. Reminds me of springtime!



If you are like me you are counting down to Christmas. I have a growing list of things to do before Christmas day. It's sure to be a busy week.
