A Bit of Autumn In April

 

It's a joyous rainy day here on the farm...We always welcome the rains and even the cool temperatures are nice for I know the hot days are summer will soon be here.

A little bit of Autumn is on my hooking frame today. 

Glorious oranges are being hooked into a pumpkin rug.

 

 

Doesn't this guy look happy with his silly ol' grin!

Makes me grin just looking at him thinking of what I purchased a couple of days ago.

I'll have to share a picture soon.  I need to practice first :)

Halloween Offerings

Autumn Days will be here soon and the days are already getting shorter. We have been enjoying some much needed rains. I finally put together a pattern of "Mr. Pennyworth" and am offering the pattern on eBay and on my selling blog.





Jenn made this wonderful Jack O'Lantern and you can also find it on the selling blog. She did all the punching and I finished it for her...seems like she is much like her Mom enjoys the punching but the finishing and figuring out what to make it into is another story.




This whimiscal lil' witch brewing up some Halloween fun will be on eBay on Sunday evening.



I've got several other items I just need to put the finishing touches on hopefully this weekend I'll find some stitching time.

*~A Happy Halloween~*

Wishing each of you a day filled with lots of treats. I have always enjoyed Halloween although I like it for seeing the little kids in their costumes no matter if they are store bought or handmade. I have to admit though I don't like to go into haunted houses and I don't like scary movies.

When I was a kid we lived in town and way back then you could let your kids go trick or treating in the neighborhood with out much fear. Being the oldest of the kids I was in charge of my sisters as we went from door to door gathering goodies. One year we were allowed to go over to the next block as long as we stayed together.

One house was decorated with lots of Halloween lights and such. We went right up to the door and rang the bell. When the bell rang out swoops a ghost across the porch with scary music to go right along with it. Now being the oldest I had to take control of the situation. Now like I said I don't like scary stuff so I was off that porch as fast as could be and was running for home not sure if my sisters were behind me or not...each kid for themselves!

I'm sure the people at the house were getting a big kick out watching all those little kids running off in every direction. They probably saved alot of money on candy that year!



Our little community had Halloween early due to the Friday Night Football games. We saw kids of all ages dressed up for the occasion. I have to admit this little monkey was one of my favorites...then again this is Grandma's little monkey!

Halloween Needle Punch~*~ Granny Goode Witch & Farmer Jack

Granny Goode Witch loves to be the keeper of the KEY and Farmer Jack loves tending the pumpkin patch in his new overalls. They will be making their appearance soon over at eBay....nyafarmgirl

It's been a busy day with work and hauling off some steers to the market. I did find a little time for some punching. So it's off to hit the hay!

Wishing for cooler days....

Here it is the middle of July and I'm longing for Fall. I love to watch the leaves turn and the crispness in the air. I finished one of the Halloween needle punches and it is being listed on eBay.



Then over at the Lemon Poppy Seeds we are still having Christmas in July. I finished up this little Snowlady all decked out in her fine hat!

Primitive Halloween Booklet

I have been working away at some line drawings for a new little booklet. I was inspired by a needle punch Jenn did some time ago. I told her that I thought it would make a great pattern for hooking, applique, stitching, maybe even painting.

So I thought why not make a little booklet....so at work today instead of getting paperwork done(it will wait til' Monday) I started drawing. We had a neat little store in the town I grew up in that had a Five and Dime store with wood floors, high ceilings, and isles filled with goodies. Oh, to visit that store to see all the treasures. What we now call Vintage Halloween....could be found there along with costumes for the upcoming Halloween night. We didn't have a big department store at the time but we enjoyed this store along with the malt shoppe and pharmacy next door.

I think Mom must have enjoyed the Halloween fun as much as we did. She always found the most interesting, scary masks. We might be in the kitchen late at night doing the dishes and look out the window and there she was with that mask on...talk about your heart racing, screaming, and running for your life!

I have to admit Fall is my favorite time of the year. We sometimes have our church family over for hayrides, games, lots of food, and a campfire. Guitars, fiddles, and banjo's finish of the evening with a sing~a~long around the campfire! OOOOh I can hardly wait for Fall to come again!
