Oh The Joys of A New Year!

As one year has closed yet another one has already begun. We celebrated the day by going to church this morning then having both of our families over for lunch. Everyone always brings a dish or two or three! We visit and the kids play. The dishes and food are taken care of and then the house becomes quiet again except for the occasional snoring I hear from the other room :)

One of the goals for this new year was to complete some of the patterns I have purchased over the last few years. Pati and Sandra also have the same rug pattern so we will be working on them and have set a goal to finish at least 3 this year.

Of course there will be other ones along the way but we do have several alike we want to do.

Well I have several goals for this year and if they get done hooray and if they don't well no worries!

One of my goals is to get more walking in so with that said I'm off to do just that.

Farewell 2011

As the New Year comes and the old year is going...I think back over what we have done. It's been a year filled with so many blessings. It's true as you grow older the days do go by faster and you treasure the simple things of life.

So what are my plans for the new year :) It's like a fresh new slate ready to be written upon. I've been thinking of things I would like to accomplish this next year. Not a resolution of sorts but perhaps goals. A daily journal is on my agenda.

I have a list of sorts that I have been working on for the upcoming year....changes hopefully for the good. A time to simplify a few things, a year of giving, finishing many UFO's, more studying God's word and praying, time for doing for others, and more time spent with friends and family.

So as the year of 2011 ends another one begins....let's see what 2012 will hold!

I finished this rug today it's been hooked for quite awhile but I ran the needle and thread with the last stitch. It's bound and I will keep this one. I began it as a hit and miss rug going round and round and then added the house, a heart, horse, and flowers. Nothing was really planned it just happened...so is life sometimes things just happen but it all falls into place somehow :)

I have a few journals scattered throughout my home with no daily writings just tidbits of things I want my children to read one day, random thoughts, ponderings of what has been on my heart at different times in my life.

As I close the final chapter on 2010 I feel as though I've reached for a book with clean white pages and it's waiting to be filled with what the next 365 days will hold. I know not what will be written it's a mystery what all the tomorrows will bring and so let the new chapter begin with as my dear lil' Sloan would say.....Once Upon A Time!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Did you count your blessings for 2009...mine were unmeasurable! Family and friends have I many. I said goodbye to two dear great~aunts that went to live in heaven still a blessing. News of cancer and a radical surgery still a blessing, I still can see and talk with my daddy. A woman in my life who I try to pattern my own life after my Mom she's strong, encouraging, and always has a prayer upon her heart.

Three of the best sisters in the whole world. Yes I admit it I was the big sister who pestered each and every one of them...yet today I received a call from each one with the most encouraging words who could ask for more?

Blessings of two children that are grown and even through the ups and downs of life we have an unconditional love...we talk, we listen, and we respect one another.

The blessing of a grandchild who brings the most wonderful joy into our lives. He's a gift sent straight from heaven.

A husband that is my very best friend, the person I walk hand in hand with, lean upon, and confide in. We talk through our problems, we share in our joys as well as our sorrows....he's my blessing til death do us part.

My mother and father inlaw are a blessing. They are more than extended family we would do anything for one another. Along with extended family is the many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even grandparents that have passed away....all a blessing for we each have touched one another's life in some way.

Blessings of dear friends some silver some gold. Blessings of just a smile from a stranger, an encouraging word from a pastor, food upon our table, the warmth of a home on a cold, winter night.

My blessings are unmeasurable. Our lives and how we live them has an effect on so many others. So with the end of 2009 I look forward to the many blessings of 2010. Oh I know there will be tears of joy intermixed with tears of sorrow yet I still will count my blessings!

A Scrapbook of Memories

The Year 2008 is now a scrapbook of memories. They hold some of my most prized possesions....days of hugs and kisses with my little grandson, a husband that loves me for me beyond measure. Special moments with parents that hold dear to my heart, sisters that make me laugh and share in the adventures of life, blessing of my children and their spouses. Each day was an adventure.

Each year is an adventure. What will I do with today? It's a journey through sunlight and shadows. Will I make the most of it?

My greatest hope for 2009 is a heart for the Lord. If only this can be... the rest will all fall into place. Lord let it be.
