What Is That Cooking...Yarn, Fish, & Frog Legs!

 

The dye pots have been going almost non~stop and some wonderful colors are making their way from the dye bath  to outside to dry and then I have been rolling them into wonderful wool yarn cakes.  Ready to use for oxford punch, binding rugs, or even crochet!

 

 

This week the colors have been blues, rich browns with black, and a wonderful dirty white.  All great for backgrounds and so much more!

 

 

After they are rolled up they are being packaged for our little store we will have at Silver Dollar City this fall.  There is 35 to 40 yards in each wool cake.  The good part is it is ready to use no winding!

 

Oh and I forgot I did a few mustard cakes too and here is the rich earth browns with black. 

 

I did have to try out the dirty whites and just love the way the pumpkins turned out!

 



 

Over the weekend we had a fish fry and the guys also had some frog legs to cook up.

 

My dad's brother came up from Texas with his wife for a visit.  The two cowboys on the left "Dad and my Uncle Bill" caught the fish.

 

Dad started his chemo and radiation this week.  He goes early in the mornings to OKC and is back home by 8:30 and for now he is still baling hay!  We sure appreciate all the well wishes and prayers. 

We are taking one day at a time and are praying that the treatments shrink the tumor and dad stays as well as he possibly can.

Busy Summer Days!

 

It has been way too long since I have updated.  So many things going on...where to begin!

 We took Sloan for a mini vacation to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo.  He told us best weekend of his entire life!  That boy is a character :)

He talked me into riding a small rollercoaster with him and a pirate ship and yes we both got soaked!

He like to froze eating dip n' dots!

 

Miss Eva Mae is quite a darling.  She loves books and is jabbering non~stop.  She has learned to say MoMo.....got to love that!

 

 

Sloan was in a wedding as a ring bearer for his cousin.  He loved dressing up and decided he was one cool dude!

 

 

Father's day we spent at Mom and Dad's with a picnic and working.  Dad plowed up the potatoes and we did the gathering.

 

 

It was HOT but we all worked together and got it done.  The yard got mowed, a barn was cleaned out ready for more hay, and lots of kidding and visiting.

Well I've been packing and pricing lots of rug hooking, oxford punch, needlepunch, wool applique', and patterns for Silver Dollar City.  It is all starting to come together for the adventure Pati Jane and I will be having soon.

 

Dad is suppose to start chemo and radiation soon.  He went in for a simple port to be put in for chemo and his lung collapsed.  He was on the mend and it collapsed again.  He spent about a week in the hospital and Mom would not leave except to run home and grab a few things.    By the end of the week he was setting on the edge of the bed with his jeans, cowboy hat, and boots on ready to go!

 

Did he take it easy after he got home!  Well no out cutting and baling hay the day after he got home.  Those two can run circles around me :)

 

Well I'm hoping to catch up on what all of you have been up to within the next few days!  Hope you all are taking time to enjoy a little summer fun :)

Punch Needle Fever!

I think my poor punchneedle may just be smoking!  Punching overtime for this fall for when we go to Silver Dollar City. 

 

We were invited to go out the last of August to do the Southern Gospel Festival as well as the National Harvest Festival in September. 

 

So the crafting time has been going full force!

Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers for our state.  It has been a tough week for a lot of people but so many have come together to help one another!

 

On a sad note my dad once again is battling cancer.  He has esophageal cancer and has some decisions to make.  Please keep him and my dear mom in your prayers.

Oklahoma Needs Your Prayers

As a lot of you may already know Oklahoma has been having some very violent tornados the last couple of days.  Today Moore, OK was hit by a huge tornado and so many victims are being impacted by this terrible storm.   We have a lot of friends in the area and the phone lines are jammed.   I ask that you please keep all of those families that has been affected by this as well as all the many emergency workers and volunteers in your prayers.   God hears each and every one!

I'm A Lucky Gal

 

I am one lucky gal I recently won this wonderful make~do made by Brenda of The Rusty Thimble!

She lives right here in Oklahoma and makes some incredible primitive wares.  You should check out her blog and see what all she accomplishes!  Thanks so much Brenda I do love this make do and will treasure it and think of you each time I look at it!

 

 

 

 

The spring rains continue to fall and we are so blessed to be out of the drought that has been in Oklahoma the last few years.

 

 

The flowers are blooming and I love having the windows open feeling the cool winds blow as rain comes down with an occasional thunderstorm.

 

 

This little bluebird has been making a nest in one of the birdhouses.  It dips and dives around the yard and has the most beautiful blue feathers and red belly!

 

School days are ending today for Sloan and he is so excited to be going from Pre~K to Kindergarten.  How fast he is growing up!   Those grandkiddo's keep me busy but I do enjoy having them live so close.  I am one lucky gal :)

Every Day Has It's Blessings!

 

The days are passing so fast!  This lil' gal looks forward to picking her cousin Sloan up from school on the days I have her.  He is just as excited to see her!  I think she is eyeing my wool  maybe she will be hooking rugs in the future!

 

 

 

 

The last days of Pre~K are almost here and so I put the punch needle to work and whipped out some little gifts for Sloan's teacher and teacher aides. 

 

 

 

I made them into little notebook covers that will fit into a purse for a quick little note!

 

 

 

They can be easily replaced with new paper....simple little gifts for some very deserving teachers!

 

 

 

Today we celebrated Mother's Day with Danny's folks as well as mine.  The cows decided they needed to get a head start on helping with the lawn. 

 

Excuse me but the lawn mower and the weedeater will take care of that!

 

 

 

That's right head right on out that gate and back to the rest of the herd :)

 

The day was just too nice to spend it indoors so I grabbed my punch needle and headed to a shady spot!

Strawberry Needlecases and Celebrations!

Lots of celebrations going on this past weekend!

 

 

Eva Mae turned 1 and has decide walking is much better than being held.  She is one busy lil' gal.

Danny's dad turned 80 this weekend and we had a wonderful family gathering with a cookout and lots of visiting!

 

The weather here has been a bit crazy.  I'm not complaining by any means.  Today we enjoyed 80 degrees and tomorrow will be much the same.  By Thursday they are forcasting snow in the northwest part of Oklahoma and dropping temps here in the heart of Oklahoma.  Like they say if you don't like the weather just wait it will change :)

Woolly Welcome and A Milestone!

I just love how this punched "Welcome" turned out.  Wool threads got to love them.  We will be offering hand dyed wool threads for needle punch coming soon!

Now it is so hard to believe but this little bundle of joy is turning 1 today!

My heart is swelled beyond measure for  this sweet lil' gal!

 

She has been such a good natured baby....lots of smiles and so full of happiness!

 

 

Sloan's very first day to meet his new cousin!  He tells everyone that he sees that Eva Mae is his little sister.  She calls him Bubba so I'm betting they will grow up  being  as close as a brother and sister!

 

 

 

 

We are planning to take a trip to the zoo today and a birthday celebration on Saturday!

MoMo does love her grandkiddo's :)

Punching Along...

This last weekend we spent a few hours in the truck going to Possum Kingdom a big lake located near Graham, Texas.  Along the way and I like to keep my hands busy so on the ride home I worked on punching some needle cases.

 

I spent some time on the porch of the cabin punching, too.  It is a very nice relaxing lake just wish the rains would fall in Texas and fill it back up.

We had a great time visiting with Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.  This is my Dad's side of the family.  He had two other brothers but they have already passed away.

 

Still looking good after all these years!
