A Place to Dye

I have been working on this awesome pattern
"Pastel Tulips"  by Cath's Penny Rugs.  I have always loved her designs.  I chose a little different color selection but that is the fun of having wools to choose from.  I love having her patterns in my shop.

It's been a busy week of dyeing wool and washing load after load of as-is wools.  The bins are overflowing in the shop and next will be tying up lots of wool rug yarns and mixing up dyes and watching them change from natural creamy yarns to all kinds of colors.  It's like a surprise when they come out of the dye pots!

Look at the wonderful dye room Danny built for me!   Am I one lucky gal or what!

It sure makes the dyeing much quicker and I don't have to worry about messing up the kitchen.

Wishing each of you a wonderful weekend and hope you find time to do something you love!

Finishes and A Giveaway

While I was in Branson, Mo during the months of September and October I had Monday's and Tuesday's off from vending at Silver Dollar City.  There is a special lady by the name of Carolyn Snyder that has a beautiful wool shop over the garage of her home.  It is a shop that you just want to stay and linger in!  She invited me to come over as often as I could and I eagerly excepted.  The above wooley quilt is one I just finished and is designed by her "Cricket Street Wool" and you can find her on Facebook.
She has so many wonderful wool applique designs and of course I gathered up a few to do.  I will be carrying her patterns in my little shop once it is all built....hopefully by spring!

Today I also finished up this little quilt by All Through The Night.  I simplified the pattern by just quickly sewing the blocks together and adding a little feather stitch along the stitch lines.  Love how it turned out!

Now for a little giveaway....Before the ice storm hit us I dyed up some cherry red wool yarn.  It works wonderful for Oxford Rug Punch and for binding rugs.  Along with the cherry red yarn I will included a couple of other hand dyed yarns as well.

So for all the folks that love a little bit of wool fabric for hooking or applique I will also be giving away a bit of wool fabric.

I will draw two names on Wednesday, December 3rd.  So if you would like a chance at the wool yarn and the wool fabric just leave a comment and if you don't have a blog leave an email in the comment so I can notify you if you win.

It's Been A Very Busy Summer!

It seems like ages since I turned on the computer but here it is 2am and I have finally loaded in some pictures of what is happening around the farm.
We are building a retreat barn  with a workshop area and a store.  It should be in the dry within a week.

Then the inside work will begin.  Once finished it will have 16 beds in the bunkhouse plenty of room for classes, hook-ins, quilt retreats, scrapbooking, wool applique workshops, crank-ins, etc!

We will have 2 porches with plenty of room for visiting and an area for enjoying some down home country cooking.

I hope to post pictures as we progress on the construction.

I hosted a wool applique workshop a little over a week ago and the gals did a tremendous job on the crazy quilt Christmas stockings.  Thank you so much to all the gals that came out to our farm for the workshop we sure enjoyed having you!

I've also been dyeing a LOT of wool yarn and wool fabric.  It's crunch time on final preparations for going to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.  I will vending there from September 11th through October 31st.

It's been such a busy summer.....with the grandkiddos, building a retreat barn, taking the certification class at Amy Oxfords, work, family, and just daily life on the farm but I have to say.....
LIFE IS GOOD!

Down On The Farm

Oh sunny days we are so ready for you!  It's been a cold time here on the Oklahoma Prairie's.    So it's always nice to pull out the scrap wool of yarns and wool strips and create a plain and simple rug.  It is very similar to the rug I hook a few weeks back but I wanted to use my oxford punch for this one.

I used scraps of  wool 4 ply yarn that I hand dyed  and wool strips that I pulled from my scrap basket.

Danny has been wearing overalls since we dated way back when we were 16 years young!

He was the only guy for me....my first date!
Not my first kiss....oops stole one in 2nd grade from a lil' red headed boy!

We had a fun little wool class "Crazy Clutch " it is a pattern my Cricket Street Wool.
Such fun to make :)

Each gal did a little something different on the inside of the clutch.

We had such a good time visiting and stitching.  Thanks to all the ladies who made it out on a cold day.

This lil' boy has been out of school for snow days.  We are mainly a rural school so the buses have a tough time so it is better to play it safe when the roads get snow and ice.
He was sacked out while I was busy at work.....

The lil' girls came over for a visit one afternoon.  Look at Miss Betty standing so tall.  She will be celebrating her first birthday next week!  Eva is such a good big sister and is always ready to tell Sissy about how things should be!

I've been working on some new patterns and hope to share some with you soon.  It's going to be a busy spring and summer and I can hardly wait!

Wishing everyone lots of SUNSHINE and a Happy WEEKEND!

Hook~Stitch~Punch

I've been using up many of the scraps from the overflowing basket of worms....Love to make really scrappy rugs.  Danny told me I should have gave the boy overalls!  Guess I should have :)

I've also been working on applique patterns by Buttermilk Basin so relaxing and fun.

The oxford punch needle has been getting used, too.  Just a little bit of everything :)

It's been a busy week but never too busy to do a little hooking, stitching, and punching!

It's Chilly Out There!

Boy it has been cold and with the Oklahoma winds it chills ya right to the bone!  Hot chocolate sure tastes good on a cold and windy day.

It's a good time to bind on some rugs.  The snowman was oxford punched using a #14 mini punch with some of my hand dyed wool yarn.  Doesn't he look happy!

The penny rug was made using up lots of scraps and was hooked.    I love all the different ways rugs can be made I can't say that I am ever bored :)

Stay warm out there it sure is chilly!

Dyeing & Farmgirls

This evening I spent a few hours dyeing some 3 ply and 4 ply wool yarns....More yarn is soaking so tomorrow will be another day of dyeing.  The day was pretty windy so it didn't take long for them to dry!

Yesterday we had 17 gals come over for a farmgirl day of hooking, punching and sewing.

We had bbq ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with hot rolls, baked potatoes, salad, and coleslaw....oh and don't forget dessert.  Teresa made lemon tarts and mom made brownies.....yum!

Back to work on some fun projects.

Teresa likes the whimsical brights and was working on some needle punch.

Carolyn was working on oxford punch and Christine was doing some wool applique.

Nancy and Diane joined us for the first time and brought some quilts they were working on.

Carol is hooking on a rug and Dee is busy with a needle punch piece.

Karan has really been improving as a rug hooker she is working on a Proverbs 31 rug and it is looking great.

These ladies were busy locker hooking, making penny rugs, needle punching, and hooking.

Lots of fun and inspiration each month we meet!
