More Hooked Rugs from Star Of Texas Camp

There were so many wonderful rugs at the Star of Texas Camp....just had to show you a few more. There are so many more still to be seen and then the "throw down" day of what everyone at camp was working on. Just so much inspiration.

Just a Taste of Camp!

Pati and I loaded up her car on Sunday May 23rd and headed to Tyler, Texas for our very first rug hooking camp "Star of Texas" and wow was it ever fun. We had Maria Barton of Star Rug company for our teacher and we learned so much and had a grand time laughing and getting to know one another.




It took 3 times unloading the car to get it all in! Pati and I learned through all of this that maybe we didn't need to bring quite as much so next time we will be packing just a little lighter. It was neat to see how all the seasoned hookers had brought all of their supplies.


We then met with our dear friend Jo and enjoyed going out for some yummy Mexican food. Then the rest of the evening was getting to know each other and working on whatever you wanted.





I'll let you enjoy the pictures below. I have lots more I'll be posting in the next few days. We enjoyed a rug show on Wednesday....hope you enjoy it, too! Some of the rugs I was able to get the name of who hooked it and who the design was by.

Star Of Texas Camp

Oh what a wonderful time I had at my very first rug hooking camp....It was just like a being a kid again! I had opportunity to take Maria Barton's class (Star Rug Company)and was it ever fun! I learned so much and enjoyed meeting her! Maria~ Your such a sweetie and just so talented...just can't say enough good things about this gal!

She had a class of 12 students and made sure each person had help color planning their rugs and we learned so many different things it was just totally AWESOME!!!

Pati and I headed to Tyler, Texas on Sunday morning with the car packed to the brim and knew that we would be meeting 2 friends from the USAPRIM group that we belong to on eBay. Maria being the teacher and Jo a very special lady indeed. Jo is a retired school teacher and does so many different art forms it is just simply amazing...besides rug hooking she does applique and quilting. Pati and I talked all the way home this evening about how much we enjoyed camp and the great friendships we made. It was a well put together camp and I think everyone who attended came away with new friends and lots of wonderful rug hooking ideas. I can hardly wait until I get to go again!

I've got lots of pictures to share but that will have to wait until tomorrow. Ahhh anticipation!!!!

Wool, Scissors, Needle and ThreadOh and A Little Imagination!

Here it is Friday again...I'm back at work and finished up what I had to do so what's a gal to do but turn some wool scraps into something. You really don't need a pattern just a little imagination. So if you have some wool scraps laying around grab you a sharp pair of scissors, and a needle and thread and see what happens.

Stormy Weather....I Love Living In Oklahoma!

I love living in Oklahoma for lots of reasons...Of course the best reason is the majority of my family lives here. It's been an absolute JOY watching this little one as he explores new adventures everyday. He just happened to be fascinated with his shadow!



Okay call me crazy....I like stormy weather. Now I don't like it when someone has damage or gets hurt but I like watching the clouds, the sudden gusts of wind, the fast change in how quickly things just happen....I guess you could say I like watching the awesome power that the heaven's hold.



All of these photo's were taken this evening as storms are coming through. Lots and lots of tornado's in our state tonight and lots of hail.










In just a few short days I'll be packing up and heading to Tyler, Texas for a Star Rug Hooking Camp. I will be going with Pati and I can hardly wait. I feel like a little kid about to go to summer camp I'm so excited!!!! I'll be taking a class by Maria of Star Rug Company and am looking so forward to meeting Jo a good AAPG friend.....Oh I can hardly wait!

More Finishes and Playing In Puddles

I have been working on a few more finishes and I must say I feel guilty hooking when I know there is still more to be bound. At least there is an end in sight. I only have 11 more to be bound.

I did try a little hooking directly onto wool...just a simple flower and it still needs steamed.



Well the guilt only last so long and I did start a posey runner that is designed by Saltbox Primitives. I saw this when we were in Warsaw, MO a couple of weeks ago and I knew I had to have it!




Saturday evening we had Sloan for the night and decided to hop in the truck and go visit with his Great~Grandma and one of his cousins just happened to be there visiting, too. So after a little snack of homemade muffins made by Grandma they had a great time....

Playing in puddles of course! You know every now and then the scooter needs a good scrubbing.


Chloe decided she would just go ahead and get right in. She's not going to be outdone by any boy!

Primitive Hand Hooked Chair Pad

When I saw this pattern by Mad Hen I just knew it would fit right in here on the farm. There are 4 different chair pads in this set and this is the first one I have finished hooking.

I've also been putting in a little work on the spool rug I started awhile back. Slowly making progress on that one. It seems like scrappy rugs take me twice as long.

Our ebay group "AAPG" will be having another online retreat this weekend...guess I'll see what I can come up with. I've never tried hooking directly onto wool so it should be interesting!

Relay For Life

This evening we went to Purcell a small town near where we live....actually the place where I grew up as a kid and joined in the Relay for Life walk. It began at 7pm and runs through 7 am Saturday morning. Sorry about the blurry picture. Everything was moved indoors into the Expo Center since we have been having so much rain.
The first lap was by survivors of cancer...Cancer affects so many people and can strike the young or old, male or female. Having had many relatives with cancer and especially since my Dad has now been a survivor for 7 months it really does hit home.
My sister, daughter, husband, sister~in~law, brother~in~law, and many friends were out walking this evening. Music, dancing, and an auction were all part of the fun for the evening. We walked for almost 3 hours before coming home tonight. Our daughter will be going back to walk again throughout the night.

Hopefully one day they will find a cure for such a difficult disease until then there will always be a reason to walk for a cure.

Tornado Season

What a wild day we had yesterday here in Oklahoma. This is what it looked like out my front door. Tornado season has officially started here once again and yesterday all the local tv channels had there hands full trying to keep up with all the developing storms that had the potential for tornados.
It was just a little too close for comfort for my folks as they had one just about a mile from where they live that hit the Mid~America Technology Center and a horse ranch nearby. Then across Interstate 35 from where they live another one took out our nieces barn.
I'm thinking it may be time to get a storm shelter way out here. Not sure that a bathtub with pillows and blankets is going to protect us all that much.

We ae back on a tornado watch for tonight and more watches predicted for tomorrow...guess we will keep an eye on the sky!



Dad came by this afternoon and we went fishing for a little while...looks like he will be having fish for supper!



Sloan had a good time getting dirty and he went back down there to play a little more and listen to a big ol' hoot owl. He sure likes hearing the hoot owl and likes to hoot back at him.

Not Mother but Moma!

What a blessed day I had. The doorbell rang early for a Sunday. When I peeked around the corner to see who it could be what a delight to see a small little boy with his Daddy in tow! After a quick visit before church and some goodies to my delight we were off to pick up our daughter Jenn as we traveled along to church.

A wonderful lunch and just a little bit of shopping and then home for a cookout this evening with the family. Now I must say I have to be one of the most blessed gals when it comes to families. With three sisters and their families all living so close that we enjoy many get togethers throughout the year. Moma and Daddy living just 15 minutes away and Danny's folks just as close it does make for one big ol' happy family. When Danny and I first married we moved about 3 hours away...that lasted all of 3 months...I was so HOMESICK we moved back and haven't been farther than 15 minutes away since.

I thought often today of the mother's that were once in our home. They may be gone but they were not forgotten. Oh how I miss my Grandma's. My brother in law's mother who would often come and a dear friend's mom. Each a very special lady in her own special way.

I've been so blessed to have a Moma who loved us girls with all her heart. You know Moma's put a lot of heart into their children. It never ends no matter how old you get!

I've also been blessed to have a wonderful mother in law. I couldn't have found a better one in the whole wide world...yes she is a very amazing Moma, too!

Well it's coming to the close of another day...and I've been truly blessed. The rug at the top is one I've been working on by Laurie of LJ Fibers and it has been one of those rugs that I can't wait to get back to hooking on...It's called "House Blessings"....just seems right for this home!

Fowl Language Can Be A Good Thing!

Please...Please...PLLEEEAASSSEEE I need some chickies is what we have been hearing for weeks. So PaPa gave in and he now has 6 Rhode Island Reds and 4 Jersey Giants. Aunt Jenn says we spoil him but in truth we are spoiled with lots of love!
