Flooding and The Magic Bullet!

Rain keeps coming down by the bucketfuls and it's been creating lots of flooding here in Oklahoma. The news channels are really stressing for parents to keep their children away from rising water as there have already been several fatalities.

This creek bed is usually just a trickle but it's a raging river right now. It runs from across the road from our shop and crosses under the road and runs into a nearby pond.

Our ponds are spilling over which is so unusual for being mid~summer. Oh the humidity is sure to be something else in days to come and I'm sure those pesky mosquito's will be out in full force.




I had never heard of the "Magic Bullet" until my daughter loaned me hers. I may just have to break down and buy one of these handy kitchen tools. It can make a smoothie in seconds and the clean up is easy....just my kind of kitchen appliance!



I think I can give up those buckets of ice cream for this low fat, low calorie delicious fruit smoothie....this one is mango, peach, strawberry, and blueberry and was 3 points on WW and was a large serving....I do love my desserts!

Stormy Weather....I Love Living In Oklahoma!

I love living in Oklahoma for lots of reasons...Of course the best reason is the majority of my family lives here. It's been an absolute JOY watching this little one as he explores new adventures everyday. He just happened to be fascinated with his shadow!



Okay call me crazy....I like stormy weather. Now I don't like it when someone has damage or gets hurt but I like watching the clouds, the sudden gusts of wind, the fast change in how quickly things just happen....I guess you could say I like watching the awesome power that the heaven's hold.



All of these photo's were taken this evening as storms are coming through. Lots and lots of tornado's in our state tonight and lots of hail.










In just a few short days I'll be packing up and heading to Tyler, Texas for a Star Rug Hooking Camp. I will be going with Pati and I can hardly wait. I feel like a little kid about to go to summer camp I'm so excited!!!! I'll be taking a class by Maria of Star Rug Company and am looking so forward to meeting Jo a good AAPG friend.....Oh I can hardly wait!

Tornado Season

What a wild day we had yesterday here in Oklahoma. This is what it looked like out my front door. Tornado season has officially started here once again and yesterday all the local tv channels had there hands full trying to keep up with all the developing storms that had the potential for tornados.
It was just a little too close for comfort for my folks as they had one just about a mile from where they live that hit the Mid~America Technology Center and a horse ranch nearby. Then across Interstate 35 from where they live another one took out our nieces barn.
I'm thinking it may be time to get a storm shelter way out here. Not sure that a bathtub with pillows and blankets is going to protect us all that much.

We ae back on a tornado watch for tonight and more watches predicted for tomorrow...guess we will keep an eye on the sky!



Dad came by this afternoon and we went fishing for a little while...looks like he will be having fish for supper!



Sloan had a good time getting dirty and he went back down there to play a little more and listen to a big ol' hoot owl. He sure likes hearing the hoot owl and likes to hoot back at him.

Oklahoma Wildfires

Oklahoman's faced wildfires yesterday over a major portion of the state. Over one hundred homes have been lost. The high winds fueled the fires as firefighters tried their best to gain some sort of control.



Two of my sisters had been to a track meet to see their kids and as they made their way home smoke and flames were making it a difficult trip back.



Having family members as well as friends as firefighters it just adds to the worry as the smoke was intense over a major portion of the state.

The winds are still blowing across the plains of Oklahoma today and rain is in the forecast for the weekend. Many folks will be faced with a loss of everything so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Early Autumn Day on the Plains of Oklahoma

How cool the wind blew across the Oklahoma plains today. Autumn is in the air I can surely feel it. This evening I went for a walk across the pastures that are still so green for September. Most summer's it is brown by now but the green rich grasses are hanging on.


This ol' moma cow always keeps her eye out for me. She is always checking to see what I'm doing walking around in her pasture. I think she must be enjoying the cool weather, too!



Wild sunflowers continue to creep up across the pasture....simple beauty that needs no tendin'....



Can't you imagine so long ago a little prairie wife taking a walk across the field perhaps to give her husband a noon meal as he is harvesting the crops before winter days settle in and on her walk home she stops to pick a few wildflowers to brighten her little sod house. Little is much when God is in it!


With the close of another day here at our little farm I have reflected back through my days of childhood knowing that I have been loved and that I have loved.
Take time to cherish the simple things in life.
