Little Quilts

 

I like little mini quilts and I have been making lots of samples for the shop.  This is a pattern by All Through The Night and I decided instead of making it into 6 different pieces I would combine them into a little quilt.  It was a fun one and was put together very quickly. 

 

 

I have lots and lots of jars of buttons.  I like the look of them in the old canning jars.  Eva likes buttons, too.  I suppose most little girls like playing with buttons and beads.  Maybe she will enjoy doing little sewing projects...guess I better sharpen up my skills on left handed embroidery as she is a little lefty!

 

The little girls love coming in the craft room and exploring!  Buttons, beads, threads, crayons, paper, scissors, doo-dads.....who am I kidding I like coming in the craft room, too!

*Simple Pleasures*

I'm missing my lil' boy this week he is off visiting his other grandparents for a few days. We will have a lot of catching up to do next week. While he has been gone I've been busy finishing a few projects. I can't remember who the designer of this applique pattern is but I finally finished it this evening. I think I will actually hang it somewhere else but for now this lil' area will do.



I sewed up two mini quilts and hand quilted them today. I used an old flour sack for the backing. Very simple little quilts.






Danny and I will be busy the rest of the week setting up a booth at the farm show for our trailer and truckbed business. It is held Thursday through Saturday at the OKC Fairgrounds. It is sure to be some long hours but I'm making up a few lil' sewing projects to work on while we are there.

We are in quite a drought at this time with many areas in the fire high alert. The winds do not seem to want to cease. It is not a calm breeze it's the kind that will blow your hat off, groceries will fly out of your shopping cart, and trampolines that were held with tie downs are sent flying.....yes I know quite well.

The garden still needs planting perhaps next week I'll get that done. Fresh tomatoes and peppers sure sound good. I'm hoping that we don't have to start rationing water soon. We just need a good soaking rain to settle the dust.

Guess I better get back to those lil' packets don't want to be empty handed the next few days :)

Holiday Finishes and Overdue Thanks!

Oh Joy....I've got another one bound! This one I locker hooked using a pattern by Kelley Belfast aka kanknchester
I just love the simplicity of this one yet it speaks volumes to me!



I picked up this pattern at Country Collections a week ago and just loved stitching it up. It's a pattern by Buttermilk Basin and I just need to do a lil' hand quilting and then of course it will need bound!

I've been a bit behind on thanking two gals....
Pati Jane made this wonderful apron for me to use while I'm working on rugs. It has the handiest of pockets great for holding all sorts of things. Don't you just love the Got Wool? Yeah I've got Wool!!! She gave it to me while we were at camp along with a really nice bag.



My dear friend Jo while at rug camp gave me a handmade flower pin (so cute) and I've had to hide it from Sloan he really likes it, some of her beautiful hand~dyed wool, a fun little play mat for Sloan, an inspiring quilt book, and an awesome wool strip holder made from USA print....Love it!

Such thoughtfulness from some dear friends. Thank you Pati Jane and Jo :)

Learning To Skate and Some Lil' Finishes!

I use to love to skate with my sisters when we were young. I had the kind that fit over your shoes and you had a skate key to adjust them. I even skated with my kids when they were little. For Christmas I got Sloan his first pair of skates and he's been practicing and once he gets the hang of it I may have to buy me a pair if I get brave!



Over the weekend the group "AAPG" I belong to on eBay had a little online retreat. We were challenged to make little quilts and here's a few I made. They are totally finished...pieced, quilted, bound and tagged. I've learned my lesson with the hooked rugs so thought I better totally finish what I started. The pumpkin patch is by Whimsicals.

You Drive I'll Sew!

Today we spent time traveling to an auction, birthday party, and did a little bit of shopping to pick up some supplies for work. As Danny drove I sewed up the Grandma Moses embroidery block into a mini quilt....I haven't made a miniature quilt in a long time so it was nice to have something quick, simple, and prim!

Once a month the group AAPG that I belong to has a online retreat encouraging those who can to work on projects. It is such fun seeing what everyone is working on...such great stitches, needle punches, quilts, hooked rugs, and oh so much more.

I began this lil' hooked mat and finished it up all but the binding today...it measures about 10 inches square so it went really fast.



This lil' cat pinkeep was my last accomplishment tonight...It was a pattern I found in the Mercantile Gathering Magazine by Sweet Liberty Homestead. It took maybe 20 minutes from start to finish. Think I'll have to make a few more of these as it was so quick and easy.



What will tommorrow bring...a round up of sorts at Mom and Dad's. Cows and calves will be herded into the pens for separating the bigger calves from the cows and the orchestra of sorts will begin. The bull will start his snorting, cows will be bellowing, calves will be bawling and the dogs will be howling and of course the guys will be barking orders. Added to the melody will be the sloshing of muddy boots slipping and sliding....call it all sweet harmony!
