Grandkiddo's and Movie Stars!
Yes....Life is certainly good! It's all in what you do with it. We all have our days where things just don't go right but you got to plant a smile on your face, dust off the seat of your pants and get up and try again!
Little Eva Mae came over to spend the day so her Mommy could go back to work. Oh her mommy works for us so it makes it quite nice that she can come over to the house for lunch and see her for an hour or so in between the work day. Sloan is very protective of her and has been sorting through the toy box to find her soft toys to play with. It's hard to believe she has already turned 1 month old. She began rolling over at 3 weeks so I expect she will be one busy gal in a few blinks of an eye!
I'm not quite sure where this boy comes up with all his information but as I was dropping him off at his house this evening he informed me that this is how movie stars look when they wear sunglasses! Now you know the rest of the story.

Polyester In a Rug?
What using something besides wool in a rug? Well it's all about use it up and make it do! I had found some really cool polyester strips in some of Frank's goodies and I nabbed them up. Polyester strips of Dagwood and Blondie comics are the center of my flowers and they look really awesome.
Now I'm thinking about trying a rug in polyester and pantyhose! Makes you think out of the box. You don't always have to use wools if you want to try rug hooking. Even found myself using some homespun fabric in my farm scene rug. It blended in quite nicely.
The little house and flower rug above is a design by Frank Bielec and I sure enjoyed hooking it during the workshop. Everytime I look at it I'll be reminded of all the fun we all had :)

Thankful Today!
A big thank you to all those who have served and who are still serving our wonderful country! I truly feel blessed to live in the USA! We have so many freedoms here that sometimes we take it all for granted. Not only has the men and women who have been and are in the service have sacrificed so much but so has all of their families!
******GOD BLESS AMERICA******
This morning I went over to Mom and Dad's place. Mom was ready to get started in the garden. Doesn't she have some big dogs :) Actually she has 3 huge dogs.
Dad was about to head to the hay patch....it's been a good year for hay!
In the first garden (yes they have more than one) they have onions, corn, green beans, blackeyed peas, beets, cucumbers, squash, watermelon, and cantelope. I bet I missed something.
Just look at that row of beans.....We picked green beans for two hours and still didn't get them all.
Garden #2....tomatoes at least 100 plants. Someone asked Dad why he had such a big garden and his answer.....I suppose me and Sue (my Mom) will have a LOT of friends come summer time.
Lots of green tomatoes!
15 gallons of green beans, squash, and cukes!

A Spark Of Creativity!
The last month has been a little lacking on creativity but I'm not complaining. Other things have been taking my attention. Over the weekend I was blessed with some new art supplies and I just couldn't wait to give them a try.
Have you ever tried copic markers? They blend beautifully but are a bit pricey. If you enjoy coloring give them a try....purchase just a few and a blender and you will pleasantly surprised at what they can do.
The last two are done with KOI watercolors....a brilliant dry pan of watercolor that I truly love!
Inspired by the quote....The grass is always greener on the other side!

Happy Trails Workshop!
There are moments you will remember all of your life and this just happens to be one of them. Where to even begin....Frank Bielec is one amazing teacher and someone I can truly call a DEAR FRIEND. It's bittersweet as I make this post knowing for one that the workshop is officially over. My home is quiet but the memories will last a lifetime.
I'll set in my gathering room for years to come and quietly smile to myself about all the happiness that went on inside those walls.
We laughed so hard at times that I was gasping for air. Everyone finished a project and even I was able to complete a piece which I share in a later post.
We stayed up late at night and worked on our projects and of course ate way too much goodies.
We had folks from Texas, Oklahoma and Ohio. Some were family members and some were new and old friends.
Three fun days of punching, visiting, laughing, and eating.
Thanks to Frank for doing such a wonderful job with keeping the gals in "stitches" as well as teaching them the art of oxford punch.
Mom brought over homemade pecan and chocolate pies as well as homegrown green beans and pickled beets. Food was plentiful!
I think just about everyone got a chance to hold little Eva. Who knows maybe one day she will be making rugs :)
The sun shined bright each day and of course the wind blowed. We even had a little farmer's market thanks to a couple of young gals willing to get up early and pick some onions, green beans, and squash.
I know this has been a post where the description doesn't quite fit the pictures. It was a workshop that was so full of inspiration and most of all a gathering of folks that made a lot of memories that they can look back on and smile and maybe even have a little giggle here and there for a long time to come!
I just can't even express the gratitude to all those who pitched in and kept every thing flowing as smoothly as it did! I am surrounded by some pretty AWESOME folks and for that my heart is absolutely overflowing.
Wishing each of you a wonderful and safe Memorial Day Weekend!

Watercolor and Wool Giveaway
It's time for a giveaway! I do enjoy all of you that stop by to visit and catch a glimpse into what is happening around our farm.
Life keeps us busy doing so many different things but I wouldn't have it any other way although a few extra hours doing a few crafty things wouldn't bother me any!
I doodled up this little booklet while at work this afternoon and watercolored it. Inside is a total of 12 pages or 24 if you want to use front and back to keep your little ideas, notes or perhaps a journal in. It's totally up to you :) and a little hooked mug rug to rest your hot or cold drink on.
I'm also including a few extra surprises. So with all of that said just leave a little comment on this post. You don't have to be a follower the only thing I ask is if you don't have a blog be sure and leave an email address just in case your the winner! I'll announce a winner Sunday night May 20th.
Well got to run got a workshop to put on next week and there is tons of work to be done!

Lumps and Bumps
We have been blessed with lots of sunny days! Today I am thankful for an answered prayer. I truly believe that God hears all of our prayers :)
Well seems like I haven't pulled a loop in weeks but I will again and soon. There have been other things tugging at my heartstrings!
I really need to drop about 20 pounds...uuuggghhh that does mean cutting way back and I mean way back on the ice cream along with the mexican food. A friend of mine showed me back in February a great little device called a FITBIT. It's a very accurate pedometer. Kind of costly but I bought one and have been carrying it with me since March 3rd. Well I have walked 246.57 miles since then. Haven't dropped a pound! So it's time to put down the ice cream cone and back away from the chips and salsa....it's time to get rid of a few lumps and bumps!

She's a Keeper!
Sloan was thrilled with his new little cousin. He was so funny he said he loves her and wants to take her to his home and keep her forever. Not sure Aunt Jenn would allow that :) He was very taken with how tiny her hands are. He was very careful with her and has lots of questions. He had to tell her that she is not allowed to touch knives and can't play with tiny toys yet. He has all the rules don't you know!
She is a little doll and of course I've spent some time rocking her and letting her know just how much we all love her.
It's been a very busy week but I still find time here and there to do a little bit of crafty things. Watercolor is easy enough to put up when I hear "Momo I need you" and off I go.
It's time for the hayfields to be cut so Danny has been busy getting the equipment ready and has started cutting. There is always work to be done around here!
Frank's workshop is in just about 2 weeks and we do have one opening so if anyone would be interested in the spot let me know.
As a new week has started the list is long of things to be done....I'm betting yours is too!
