Day By Day

Day by Day and with each passing moment....a start to one of my favorite hymns. I do enjoy moments of life how about you. Even in the struggles of day to day life if you take a moment and enjoy the simple things of life perhaps you find yourself smiling even in the most difficult times.

Life is too short to not enjoy it and I do take pleasure in taking time to see life through the eyes of a 3 year old. Look at just a couple of things we did today....oh there are so many that I don't capture in pictures but they are captured in my heart!


The day for me started out this day with our son Dan dropping of Sloan for the day. There was a chill in the air but the sun was up and shining and we had a few chores to take care of.



First a growing boy needed to have a bowl of cereal with his PaPa then it was off to take care of the farm chores.



He is so thrilled about his "chicken eggs" and even has shared a dozen with his great~grandma last week. He proudly told her they were from his chickens.



He does have to play chase with them for a few minutes before leaving the pen.



They really don't seem to mind I think they just might enjoy seeing him come for a morning visit.



Next we gave the donkeys a treat of celery. They come right up to the backyard fence to visit and today they were happy to accept a treat!




Of course we have to get in a little excercise practicing being superman on the swing!

For lunch we had a big feast of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, broccoli, and biscuits. This boy has a big appetite!



We opened up the craft room doors today and found some wool that we could use to cut into strips for oxford punch and then a lil' boy wanted to give it a try. Well I figure if he is willing to try. First he turned the handle on the cutter and did a fine job helping me cut the strips.

Next he tried to thread the punch and after a little help....



We started with our first punch lesson. He lasted about 30 seconds and then he was off to watch Rudulph the Red~Nose Reindeer and within minutes was sound asleep!




This is what I came up with while he slept. Craziest rug I've ever made. Started out with the center as a hit and miss rug....decided to add some motifs of a horse, heart, flowers, and house. It measures about 12 x 20 inches before binding. Not to bad for one afternoon and evening.




Last night I made this little mats.... A simple and prim house.



A fraktur bird...just plain and simple just the way I like it!




I finished the binding on a christmas tree and sheep rug. My oxford punch needle and I have finally become friends...

Tomorrow is another day. I hope you will take the days you have and live them to the fullest...enjoy the simple things of life, make memories, keep a prayer on your heart, and lend a helping hand to someone if you can!

A Day Away From The Farm

Oh what a day! Sloan went to visit his Gigi with his Moma and I had the day to spend with Pati and Sandra. Yes with all the fun I did manage to finish the lil' dog rug, bind it, and look it's even on the little bench! I tell you give that oxford punch a try :)



Pati, Sandra and I met at Auntie Mae's the antique store in Purcell, Okla. where Pati and I have been slowly filling up our booth. We have a couple more displays we will be adding on Saturday to really make it look more prim.



Now if I can just get busy and bind a couple of Christmas rugs before it's too late :)

Sandra even found a couple of things to purchase.



Next we were off to Country Collections for our monthly hook~in. Oh we were just a lil' late. Jean working on her church....she will have it bound in no time.

Three Cowboys!

Not too long ago my Dad's brother Bill and my Dad's friend from childhood also named Bill but we know him as Red came to visit. Just thought this was such a good photo of them. My Dad is in the middle.

Sometimes You Just Feel Like....

Punching something! Well I finally broke down and cleaned up my craft room. So now I feel like I can setttle down and make some lil' rugs to go on some small barnwood benches I have.

With my oxford #10 punch needle and some #6 wool strips this lil' dog a design by Frank Bielec is coming right along within just a few minutes.
If you haven't ever tried oxford punch and you enjoy rug hooking or needle punch you should really give it a try. You can mix wool and yarn and it does give it that old well worn look.

This piece I'm actually showing is on the backside. I'll have it punched before I head off to bed and then bind it tomorrow.

Well the church dinner at our home went very well even with a cold wind blowing. The kids enjoyed riding the bikes, jumping on the trampoline and just plain having fun. We had lots of different chili's, homemade soups, and then of course some wonderful desserts.

Well back to punching!

There's A Wocket In My Pocket

Don't you just love this cute critter. This afternoon my daughter Jenn and I gave her best friend from childhood a baby shower. I think I heard from just about everyone you live way out in the country. It's really not that far but you do get a nice view of cows, horses, llama's and all sorts of critters on the way.

It was such a nice day....we had 25 gals that were able to attend.









Our littlest guest was just as cute as could be and had to help out occasionally.


Danny's Mom is on the left visiting with one of her long~time friends.
It's so nice living near small towns so many folks know one another.


I've been busy cleaning and painting this past week and still plan on doing a few more projects before winter arrives but tomorrow evening we will be hosting our annual Church Fall Dinner. Hopefully the weather will remain calm as part of the activities will be outside.

Well I'm back to hooking on a small rug and I must say it sure feels good to be pulling loops again. Pati and I have already had several purchases out of our lil' booth at the antique store and I'm so pleased our handmade items are selling. Lots of comments that no one around here has these kind of items....glad folks still appreciate handmade in the good ole' USA!!!!!

* A New Adventure *

The little town that I grew up in has a wonderful Main Street that boasts several antique shops. Recently Pati
and I did a craft show on Main Street and decided if one of the Antique shops were to have a booth come available we would give it a try.



Well we started moving in today. We got a great start and plan to meet again on Thursday and work on it a bit more. We have come up with a name for our booth....

November Already!

Surely the weathermen are wrong....maybe I heard wrong but I do believe I heard on the news tonight Oklahoma may have snow in the next 10 to 12 days. It's a good thing I had the propane take filled last week there has been a cool wind blowing across the prairie lately.

Well finished hooking on this snowman and still need to do the binding on the edge but he will have to wait until next week. Seems like this week will be filled to the brim.



We have been busy doing some fall clean up and outdoor painting. Notice the blur of Pipsqueak as she dashes by at top speed behind Danny.



We still like one more flowerbed but my littlest helper had to go home for the evening.



Today we found 3 eggs and soon we will be using them to make Sloan's favorite....Brownies. Okay so they are one of my favorite's too!



Over the weekend Danny cleaned up the garden spot. Sloan and Pipsqueak are racing over to the chicken pen.



It was a perfect day to play on the swing.



When we got the chickens aka chiggers for Sloan wish we would have known just how many roosters we would wind up with. We had 6 roosters just too many so after giving Mom a couple a few more went to a friend for her lil' boy and girl to enjoy!

The rest of the week will be busy getting ready for a baby shower and the church fall dinner that will be held here this coming weekend. Lots of housecleaning....I would by far like to be hooking or punching but those cobwebs and dustbunnies aren't taking care of themselves.

Surely they didn't say snow :)
