I love the changing the clocks so that it gets dark early and I'm all settled in the house early and it's colder and crisp out. Beautiful fall colors on the trees with bright blue skies with a nip in the air. Pumpkins and cider and back to burning candles and the scent they release in my home. Saying goodbye to summer and the heat and humidity. Can't wait!!! ~Cyndi who

Fall is my favorite season and I just love your fall focused give-away! I can't decide what my favorite part is:
The sound of crunching leaves as you rake them up.
The smell of the roast cooking in the oven as I rake the leaves, mingled with the cinnamon and pumpkin of the pumpkin pie.
The earthy flavors of the pumpkin, cinnamon paired with apple cider.
The feel of the smooth pumpkin then the goopy insides as I clean it out to carve.
The sight of all the autumn colors in the leaves of the trees.
I guess I just love it all!
Blessings, Patti

Hi Ginger,
I love the fall because as a teacher, it means the start of another year of new possibilities! Meeting my new students, the excitement, the first high school football game, the babble of young people's voices, listening to their summer experiences. It's all wonderful!
Love your blog,

Oh Ginger, you are so generous. When I think of fall it brings back memories of when I was a child. We used to gather at my grandparents house (all of the aunts, uncles, nephews, great aunts etc. about 25 of us)for a day of hog killing. It sounds so gross now! All us kids had so much fun playing all kinds of games. The adults would make scrapple, stuff sausage, cut up meat and package it and cook lard. Wouldn't the FDA have a field day now?? Doesn't that take us back in time? Guess you had to be a country kid in the '50's to know about all that stuff. Fall is my favorite time of the year.

You are so generous! And what a wonderful give away!
I love the smell of pumpkin nut bread or apple pie wafting through the air. And the sound of the rustling leaves beneath my horse's feet when we ride. Long walks with our dog, and mama cat trotting along too, in the crisp air. Nature's last hurrah as the leaves turn warm shades of red, gold, rust and brown. At the end of the day the crackling fire in the fireplace completes the mood.

I followed the link over from Primitive Betty's blog. What a great giveaway - please include me in the drawing!

Growing up in New England, autumn was always my favorite time of year. The smell in the air as that undercurrent of chillness set in, the excitement of the earlier dusk, the busyness of preparing for a new school year, the visual delight of the changing trees .... Sadly, I live far from home nowadays, but autumn still stirs a sense of excitement and promise. And this time of year always brings back many happy memories of years past.

Saw this over on Betty's blog. Thanks Betty! My favorite thing about Fall is color. Color, color, color. God is awesome with each season. If we'd only stop to take a look now and then. I also love the smell of candles with cinnamon and any other combination. I love Summer, but Fall is right behind because it's not too cold yet. I become a hermit after that lol.

What I miss most about Autumn
The glorious riot of color GOD puts on display to warm our soul as the weather turns crisp.

What isn't there to love about fall. I can not pick just a few things about the fall.

Ginger: I found my way over through Trudy's blog. What a neat blog and wonderful Fall offerings for one lucky person! We have a bonfire down by our pond near Halloween. Our kids and grandkids never miss coming. We have a weiner roast and then do s'mores. We sit on hay bales, the moon is out, the leaves swirling, but the best sight or sound is to see the faces of the children in the moon light, laughing without a care in the world. It's a magical time! I also love to "nest" and hook by the fire!

I love fall because God gave it to us, in all its perfection. Whether it's the SIGHTS--the vibrant colors, the farm stores,or the SMELLS--cinnamon and apple, hot chocolate, or the TASTES--crisps, pumpkin bars w/ cream cheese frosting, or the SOUNDS--of rustling leaves, the crackle of the fire on a crisp night, or the FEEL of fall--the bumps and ridges of a pumpkin, the cold, ruby-red cheeks of a child, the fuzziness of a sweater, He got it right and I will thank and praise Him.

Here in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley, fall is our big season! We've got gorgeous leaves in the Catskills, PYO apple orchards and pumpkin fields everywhere, and a fall festival of some sort in every town. Yay!

Growing up on a farm in Fall meant Grandma would soon be getting out hooked rugs to cover bare hard wood floors! Changing airy summer curtains for ones of a heavier material. Getting out cooler weather school clothing which always needed to be lengthened which required us to stand while she pinned the new hem. Helping to harvest seasonal crops and the dreaded walking behind a tractor/wagon to pick up corn missed by the picker. Attending a family picnic at my uncle's cabin before it got too dark or cold (no electric .. just a fireplace). Hiking in the surrounding woods as leaves fluttered from the trees and watching small animals scurry as we crossed their paths! Fond memories of bygone days!

I love to decorate for Halloween, and try to make it as scary as possible. Even my 21 year old daughter hates to sit in the dining room because of the full size witch I put there every year! I also love to put out all the naturals that come with fall, pumpkins, bittersweet, gourds, hay, etc. It will be here before we know it.

Hi, Ginger -

I, too, have an October 1 birthday, like Beth, and my brother's is on October 7, so it's a great time to celebrate being alive! Fall is my favorite season - lots of tamaracks, maples, sumac, Virginia creeper, and more changing colors; brilliant red mountain ash berries attracting all the birds; ripe tomatoes and late vegetables from the garden; crisp crunchy leaves to walk through on the way to work and school; Indian corn decorations to make for the front door; Glacier and Yellowstone parks are ours again, with all the slow-driving visitors gone; bonfires are safe again down at the ranch; time to get out well-loved quilts for the beds and to hang on the wall; leaving the house windows open during the day instead of having to close everything up at 7 a.m. to keep it cool most of the day; and creating delightful Halloween costumes for "kids" of all ages. Not to mention making applesauce, huckleberry pie, zucchini bread, tomato and basil salad with feta . . . Mmmm-mmmm! Hope you're feeling well and enjoying the summer and Sloan, Ginger.

Take good care -

Kathleen
