Dyeing & Farmgirls

This evening I spent a few hours dyeing some 3 ply and 4 ply wool yarns....More yarn is soaking so tomorrow will be another day of dyeing.  The day was pretty windy so it didn't take long for them to dry!

Yesterday we had 17 gals come over for a farmgirl day of hooking, punching and sewing.

We had bbq ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with hot rolls, baked potatoes, salad, and coleslaw....oh and don't forget dessert.  Teresa made lemon tarts and mom made brownies.....yum!

Back to work on some fun projects.

Teresa likes the whimsical brights and was working on some needle punch.

Carolyn was working on oxford punch and Christine was doing some wool applique.

Nancy and Diane joined us for the first time and brought some quilts they were working on.

Carol is hooking on a rug and Dee is busy with a needle punch piece.

Karan has really been improving as a rug hooker she is working on a Proverbs 31 rug and it is looking great.

These ladies were busy locker hooking, making penny rugs, needle punching, and hooking.

Lots of fun and inspiration each month we meet!

Birthday Wishes and This and That!

This young lady is Carly and today is here 8th birthday isn't she a beauty.  Her sweet grandma Dee is one of the ladies that attends the once a month gathering at our farmgirl days.  She showed Carly how to oxford punch and didn't her little pillow turn out just as nice as can be!  Way to go Carly you did FANTASTIC on your very first project!!!!  Enjoy your birthday and congratulations on turning the big #8!

Well Miss Betty's rug is slowly getting done....I need to get those loops to flying!

Two little deer having a little chat...

a little fox  with a silly grin

a sleepy owl sitting on a branch

a fun little squirrel needing a tree to climb

Of course I have to keep the needle punch warmed up .....so punched a whale!

Home Sweet Home a bright and cheery little needle punch

Pins and ornaments

More pins and maybe some of the longer punches will be made into eyeglass holders

If you know me....I jump from one thing to another so been trying knitting....I finished up this little shawlette learning some new things along the way....still need to hide those ends!

On to another little neck scarf or shawlette.....

Miss Betty Rae is just over 2 weeks old and such a sweet baby.  She has already captured a special place in her MoMo's heart......I love those grandkiddo's so much each and everyone!

The days have been filled to the brim with working on things for Silver Dollar City this coming fall, grandkiddos, work, and just things around home.  I have a full life with never a dull moment so you will never hear me say that I'm bored :)

Wishing you a blessed week filled with the JOYS of life!

Introducing Betty Rae

This week we welcomed Betty Rae to the family she was 3 weeks early but is doing just fine.  She is a whopping 5# 6 ounces and 19 inches long and her big sis Eva Mae loves her very much.  She is quite taken with touching this baby that moves quite a lot.

So sweet and quite the little doll.

Her cousin Sloan thinks she is pretty grand, too.  He is going to be such a big help when I keep both of the  girls but I have been forewarned he doesn't do diapers!

We have truly been blessed!

Brighter Skies!

Today the sun came out and soon the drip, drip, drip began.....the ice and sleet were gone by this afternoon and it felt good to see and feel the warmth of the sunshine.   Another cold spell is on the way surely spring is really just around the corner!

I've been punching again when the rug hook isn't busy in the evenings and now just to make these into something.....perhaps they would work to hold sunglasses.   They are just a bit wide for reading glasses.

If the weather holds out I'm  off to Kansas in a few days to a  hook~in!  I don't need a thing but it is always fun to look :) Oh who am I kiddin' I'll find something!

The Woods Are Full of Animals

We have a little Betty Rae that will be arriving in just about a month and her room will be filled with woodland animals.....I drew up a pretty rough draft straight on linen and just started hooking this evening.  You will have to check back and see the forest come alive with these fun loving animals!

In between dyeing lots of needle punch and oxford punch yarns....we stay busy playing and making trips home from school.

Sometimes I even get time to make a few needle punch kits, locker hook kits, oxford punch and rug hooking kits to be displayed this fall.

I try to multi~task as much as I can maybe why I make such a mess!

It's been a cold start to March and I know everyone far and wide is hoping and wishing for spring!

Bundle up and stay warm,......
