If You Could Live Your Life Over....

Would you change anything?

Sure I would!

I would have listened to my folks more and been been a little kinder to my sisters.

I wouldn't have worried so much about the farmhouse we lived in and invited people over for dinner more.

I would have spent more time playing with my kids and took them to the park and zoo more. Wonder if they would like to go now?

I would have spent more time reading to my children and hugged them more.

I would have enjoyed more of the day than worrying about the tomorrows.

I would have went and seen my Grandma more.

There is so much more...yet I can't take back yesterday!

So WOULD YOU CHANGE ANYTHING?

I want to try to do better and enjoy the day for what it is...simplify what seems to be the big things, and don't worry about the messes so much. What's a lil' spilled chocolate milk it can be cleaned up...come on let's get out the finger paints!

Staying Warm and Cozy

Just a small sampling of the quilts and crocheted throws here on the farm. Some were made by me, some by my grandma's and mother~in~law. Some were rescued from a shop or auction. Hours of stitching or crocheting in each one.

Do you remember those days of crawling under one of grandma's quilts on a cold winters night?

Well it's late here once again time to go slip beneath the warmth of a bed covered with an old fashion quilt.

Stitching, Punching, and Painting

It's been a cold weekend and we climbed into the 40's add the Oklahoma wind and you need to grab a jacket. I oxford punched this little field bunny with wool yarns. I still need to bind it!

I stitched this up and just love how it turned out. It's a pattern by Nutmeg Hare.
It measures 11 x 13 inches and would like to find an old frame to put it in.

I have several wood frames and decided to do a few appliques. Just grabbed some scrap wool, scissors, material, and threads and had these done in an evening.

I also painted this flock of sheep to make some tags for our booth. Quick and simple very little details just prim.

Well the guys showed up last week with their yellow boots on and by the afternoon they had us a new parking area poured.

It's cured enough that work begins this week on putting up a roof and start enclosing the portion that will become a large gathering room.

Time to get busy this week going through a few things to put in a garage sale with my sisters and declutter a few things around here! Looks to be another busy week but with the help of a lil' boy it will fly by.

Well better go crawl under a warm quilt and catch a few winks before a lil' boy comes knocking at my door wanting some breakfast! Ahhh life is so good when what makes us happy is not in what we own but what lives within our hearts!

Under Construction!

We are undergoing a few good changes here at the homestead. We built a metal barn type of home that we finished back in the fall of 2004. We have been so blessed to have this wonderful barn style home.

We enjoy having family over often. I like the simplicity of the country life....a place to hear the birds calling sweetly to a mate, the cow bellowing to find it's calf, the howl of the coyotes as the sun begins to set. Oh I don't need riches or gold just the view of the sun setting low or the brilliance of the stars stretching far across the prairie sky.....Yes I do enjoy the country life.

We are enclosing the area where we usually park and making one large gathering room. We will be putting in a large fireplace and lots of windows. We are also adding on a new parking area.

I hope to have a few rug hooking and quilting get togethers here starting later this fall. We plan to make it rustic inside as Danny and I will be the ones doing the inside work....and since we aren't carpenters rustic is what it will be!

Sunday after church I gathered up my paint and brushes and started painting!

Some red and black and look a "new" bench!

Then I just couldn't stop so I made a few signs :)

Thanks to all that visit my blog and catch a glimpse into our life out here on the farm. I truly want to enjoy each day come what may and at the end of the day as I lay my head down I want to give thanks for all my blessings.

Just Another Day On The Farm

Spoken right from the lips of a 3 year old...."It's a great day today! I got some baby chicks!" It was a great day today. We had sunshine, we had a lil' boy full of energy and he was so happy to have baby chicks once again.

Six lil' peeps! He has started naming them....Chrissy, Jack, and Feathers. I'm sure the other 3 will have names soon.

Off to the barn to feed the new cows. We had depleted our stock over the winter and are starting to purchase again. Tomorrow afternoon we will be working them...fun stuff :(

Meanwhile....A lil' boy has learned to climb really good and is getting to know them from a higher point of view.

He is ever helpful with watering them but beware the hose can quickly turn and someone might just get a little soaked!

One of his favorite lines....Are you kidding me? Yes...he is as onery as he looks!

Now that the work is done time for a little fishing!

I looked up and this is what I saw going on down from me!

Someone had a shadow most of the day!

We caught a lot of fish today. Sloan let me know I was very good at fishing. Well I've been doing it for a LONG time!!!

Who says a boat can't be used to slide on???

Look I think I have a gollywhopper!

Sure enough he did!

Time to go back up to the barn and check on the chicks, get a snack, and wrestle with Papa!

Hope you enjoyed just another day on our farm.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

Wearing my green today....how about you?

The Cold Wind of March

It sure looked nice outside but boy that could fool you. It was just a bit cold on Monday with the temps in the 40's but with the Oklahoma wind you sure better leave your jacket handy!

My nieces and nephews are on spring break from school this week and Wednesday a few of us will be going to the Oklahoma City Zoo. I haven't been with them to the zoo in a long time. Oh Sloan and I go several times a year but I'm sure he will enjoy it even more with his cousins. By Wednesday they are saying the temperatures will be back into the 70's and maybe 80's. Just hope the wind doesn't blow too much.

I'm hoping to see the elephants as they have been gone on a visit for quite a long time to the Tulsa zoo as the zoo has been going through a major revamp. So far what they have done is looking very nice!

I haven't done anything very crafty today....just zig zagging around 8 rugs I need to bind. So with that done it's time to bind them before they pile up any higher!

I've been going through a few things and ran across these 4 yardsticks. Where he comes up with his ideas I have no idea but he said look at me I am skiing!

Sunny Day On The Farm

It was so nice outside today and the winds have finally settled down some. Yesterday Oklahoma was ablaze with fires. Many folks lost there homes, barns, and outbuildings. The firefighters worked endlessly trying to gain control. We were very fortunate not to have any near our place.

This coming week they say temperatures are to reach near 90 and with winds coming again they are asking folks with tall grass to get it mowed down as a precaution. Everything is so dry it only takes a small spark and before you know it so much damage.

We are sure praying for rain! Well this afternoon after running a few errands I gathered up some of my thrift store finds and my paints and brushes and spent a few hours outside giving them a coat of paint.

They do look so much better painted. I just need to add a lil' wax to them and then they will be finished and ready to put in our booth.

I tried my hand at making a stuffed bunny and a few muslin eggs. The poor lil' bunny has a square nose guess I'll have to try to do a little better on the next ones!

Tomorrow after church I'm planning on more time spent on the porch painting a few signs and benches. It's suppose to be another sunny day just hope the wind isn't blowing too hard.

Hope each of you are enjoying your weekend and enjoying a little bit of sunshine!
