Look What Came In The Mail

I just love this wonderful lil' Sheep that Betty needle punched and sent to me as a belated birthday gift. Let me tell you it was well worth the wait!!! If you have ever had the honor of seeing Betty's work in person you'll know the care and love she puts into her work. She also sent a cute notepad, and some yummy dip I can't wait to try. Thank you so much Betty.

Look at the gobblers that have been visiting....

Someone wanted to see how fast they could run...believe me fast as lightening.

It's Never Too Late....

Well It's never too late to learn a valuable lesson and believe you me I've learned one. I should never ever let things pile up....so from now on I'll be whipping those rugs as I get them done. Well I've finished up 6 in the massive pile....but one is a challenge rug so it can't be shown just yet. I even hung them up here and there in the house. The lil' welcome mat is hanging in the guest/toy room. The dolls were made by my dear friend Betty.

This basket of flowers I hooked back last May and just finished up the binding. I think this is where it all started....should have bound it when I got it done!

This was a challenge rug from last fall. I bound this one with wool.

The bossy behind I tried whipping the edges with wool strips and it went really fast. Looks pretty good on the old milk stool.

This basket of flowers I hooked about a week ago and I also whipped the edges with wool strips and it's hanging on the wall.

I thought at first I had about 23 to finish but after cleaning I found a few stray mats that needed the binding also so guess I'll just keep plugging away.

So what's your favorite way to bind a rug? Thought I would try a variety of ways to see what I like best.

Weekend Fun!

Saturday we had an early Easter Egg hunt planned for the kids but the weather just wasn't fit to be outside...rainy with winds up to 50 miles an hour would have blowed the eggs into the surrounding states so we just hid them in the house.

Of course the kids don't mind and you'll see why in just a second.

Our daughter "Jenn" and her Grandma Pat watch as the kids have fun.

Eggs everywhere!

Now you know why the kids young and old alike enjoy the hunt. Danny and I throw our change in a big jar all year long and then fill the eggs with change and throw in a dollar or two....

Sloan spent the night and was able to go to church with us on Sunday.

After church we went to the OKC zoo. It was a really nice day...just a lil' cool with a light wind.

After the zoo and a refreshing nap....Sloan helped his Papa with putting out some feed for the cows and of course a tractor ride is always fun.

We can't forget to feed the fish.

Well it was a great weekend. I always love it when we have family over and we get to spend time with the ones we love.

Bound and Determined!

Confessions of a rug hooker....Binding is not my favorite thing to do. So time to do some finishing. The huge pile of unfinshed hooked projects that only like the binding has grown so much it's time to get it done. So far I have finished binding 2 of the 23 hooked projects ranging from small mats to big rugs. I know twenty-three may seem like a lot but you ought to see the quilts hanging in the spare closet that just need to be bound. Sometimes confession is good for the soul!

So I'm bound and determined to get these projects finished. I have a lot more I want to do so I'm making myself finish at least 3 a week before I can pull a loop...guess I better get back to the whipping!

Spring Chick Pinkeep
Free Doodle Pattern

Spring days are near and this lil' pinkeep was made by drawing around our little 2 year old grandson's hand. If you have a lil' one that you can draw around their hand do so it will make it all the more special...if not you can use the one provided below. I did cut off one of the fingers on the pattern for our lil' chick but you don't have to. I used wool for the chick and homespun for the background on the front. Simple applique stitches were used and a french knot for the eye and a backstitch for the lil' legs. On the back I appliqued a house and what Sloan calls me with the date.

Feel free to use the pattern in whatever art medium you would like.

The Fish Are Biting!

The prairie winds brought a cool breeze today but that didn't stop a lil' boy from wanting to go fishing. It is simply amazing to me how quickly he has caught onto reeling in fish. I do throw the line out for him and then he does the rest.

He's got another...we were catching and releasing them today but we sure could have had enough for supper.

This year he wants to touch them.

Next we headed down to the barn where we keep the hay and the bottle fed calves are.

On our way back to the house we saw two geese that were staying close to one of our ponds.

Before he left for the evening he had to have a snack and someone sure loves chocolate especially "Kittycats" or maybe you know them as Kit Kats.

My Dad taught me to fish when I was just a lil' kid along with my sisters. Four lil' girls sure kept him busy baiting hooks and removing fish. We all four still enjoy fishing and all of our kids fish when they have the opportunity. So find a pole or two and take your kids or grandkids fishing you'll be glad you did!

Snips And Snails And Puppy Dog Tails

I decided I needed a new rug in front of the kitchen sink so I decided to start another rug...It's not like I don't have another one already started but why not work on two. I got quite a bit done this evening on this one. It's one of my favorite quilt patterns and it's really easy to do since I'm using this great piece of wool to do the darker spools and just using up scraps of lighter wools for the other spools.

Well this little one got a new puppy a few weeks ago and he simply adores her...don't you just love the frown on his face! They came over last night to go fishing and stayed for awhile to help PaPa put together an eleptical.

Well back to pulling a few loops. Hope your enjoying some sunshine this week.

Another Great Finish!

Look what Staci of Snippets and Stash did with the one of my free lil' doodles. Isn't it just adorable! It's always fun to see different uses for the doodles.

Today looks to be a nice warm day filled with lots of sunshine. I'm hoping to get outside for awhile and soak it in. Surely spring is really on it's way.

Wonderful Handmade's and One Happy Lil' Boy!

While visiting with Betty in Lenexa she gifted me with this wonderful little pillow and goodies. She is extremely talented in anything she does. I just love her little tiny stitches. Thank you Betty I sure treasure our friendship!

Someone was thrilled when inside a package was a little gift just for him!

A new flashlight he had to show off to all the stuffed animals, dinosaurs, and of course inspecting places with his flashlight is always fun. Thank you Kelley for thinking of Sloan.

Kelley sent me this wonderful cross-stitched pillow and needle case. Isn't it just awesome. Tiny little stitches in the most primitive colors. Thank you Kelley I just love them.

Well I'm back home after another pacemaker placement. I'm now am on #6 it's amazing how far they have come since my first one 15 years ago. Thank you for the many thoughts and prayers.

Corbin Mills and American Whatever
Liberty, Missouri

If your in the neighborhood of Liberty, Missouri and you like cross-stitch or rughooking or for that matter just a good piece of pie you'll want to stop by Corbin Mills. Inside the doors you'll find a little bit of heaven!

Let me introduce you to Sandy Williams. She told me she gets up early in the morning cooks her husband breakfast and then comes down to do some cooking for her restaraunt. She cooks all the homemade pies...the restaraunt was already closed when we arrived and the pie was gone :( I've got to go back she has homemade coconut pie! Sandy told me to go ahead and go inside the restaraunt and look around she has hooked rugs inside the restaraunt, too! She hooked each and every one and she keeps a little photo album of all her rugs with a little history about each one.

I wish I would have asked her how many rugs she has hooked but from just what she has hanging it's a LOT!!!

She has many different rugs from lots of different designers. This paticular one is by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm called "Give Thanks" and when I saw it I knew I had to buy the pattern!

I thought this was a very clever idea...a bookcase turned up with legs added then wood to separate the shelves into bins to hold different colors of woolley worms.

It was kind of sad to see our trip come to an end but then again I'm sure there will be many more adventures to come.

I'll be gone for a few days to have some maintenance on the ol' ticker and when I get back I have some wonderful goodies to share with you that some friends have made! There is nothing like getting handmade gifts until then....
