February Sunshine

Sunny days on the farm this February to good to pass up a walk....

The front pond is so low.

Brilliant blue skies on what should be a cold day!

Matilda and Margaret have been naughty girls they made their way to the house last week and chewed up my bushes.  Back to the lot at the barn for these gals.

The barn is still full of hay as well as down by the shed.  Next week more cattle are coming to make their home here for the spring and summer.

I've been hooking winter projects and finished up Dear Santa's today...

Olde quilts repurposed into pinkeeps and a cupboard hanger.

Well.....back to whipping on a few chair pads :)
Hope you have enjoyed your Saturday!

Staying Warm and Cozy

Just a small sampling of the quilts and crocheted throws here on the farm. Some were made by me, some by my grandma's and mother~in~law. Some were rescued from a shop or auction. Hours of stitching or crocheting in each one.

Do you remember those days of crawling under one of grandma's quilts on a cold winters night?

Well it's late here once again time to go slip beneath the warmth of a bed covered with an old fashion quilt.

My Other Job!

Danny has been building utility trailers since the kids were little. We started a business long ago and have been very fortunate that it has grown although we are still a small company with a total of 8 employees and most of them are family.

We set up at the Oklahoma City Farm show and really enjoyed meeting so many folks.

Thursday and Friday Danny and I stayed fairly busy and I actually managed to visit a few booths. They had an awesome Scentsy Candle booth and I left some money with them but brought home some wonderful scents that are already making our home smell good.

Our son "Dan" was able to come up today and help us with talking with folks. It sure was good to have him there.

It has been raining all day but it was a good day for folks to get out and visit the Farm show.

Now a sneak peak of what I've been working on this weekend while I had a few free minutes to spare.

Super Simple Half Square Triangles

Oh it's a beautiful Saturday morning here on the farm. I've got the windows open letting the house air from a long winter. Last night I pulled out some fabric to start a little mini quilt for an online retreat our group "AAPG" from ebay will be doing next weekend and thought I would show you some simple little steps for making half square triangles. It's really the easiest and fastest way I have found.

First pick two different fabrics and cut out your squares....mine just happen to be 3 inches. Then draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the fabric of one of the squares. This will be your guideline while sewing.

Next place the 2 squares together right sides of fabric facing each other and with a 1/4 inch foot sew together as pictured above.

I like to chain stitch all of mine together and cut them later. Once I finish one side of the square I then stitch on the other side using the same line as a guideline.

Next you will use the line as a guide to cut them apart.

Just press and there you go half square triangles. Your on your way to making lots of different quilts.

As Close As It's Going To Get...

I've always wanted a log cabin but I'm sure this is as close as it's going to get for me. But I sure love the look and rustic feel you get of log homes.

Monday mornings brings a special lil' guy to start my week off with lots of smiles, hugs, and a few kisses. He likes to empty his toy box that I keep in the living room and sit in it and watch movies...notice the dino's under the loveseat no telling what lurkes under there!

Yesterday morning we woke up to howling winds and snow but by the afternoon it was already melting. They say more is on the way but today we are enjoying sunshine...Hooray!

This little quilt was made by me years ago. I'm thinking it's a bit bright for my taste but I do like the design. I can't remember who the pattern was by. Well it's time to play with dinosaurs and race cars...hope your enjoying the start to a new week.

~*Do You Have This Problem*~

How many projects can one person start? For me it is way too many. I think I need help! I at least finished the flower penny rug but I have two new quilts going on at once and that doesn't count the other quilts stored away. Then I guess I would have to mention all the needle punch pieces that are punched but not made into anything yet. Actually I think I have rubbed this bad habit off onto my daughter Jenny. She keeps bringing me needle punched tops with a line "I'll be back to make them into something", she has made one Halloween needle punch that I would love to have but we'll see!

Here are two redwork Santa blocks for a quilt I'm working on. Only another 10 or so to go. Dear ol' Claus gets worked on when I'm setting at Tractor Supply or Lowe's waiting on Danny. Mom actually caught me after church doing a few stitches while I was sitting in the truck waiting on Danny. Hey a gal has to stitch whenever she can find a spare minute.

I had hoped to have these finished by Christmas...I guess it all depends on how many trips we make to Tractor Supply!

Well for a few days I'm putting my stitching away. This little one is sure to keep us on our toes. Our son and daughter-in-law are on their way to Las Vegas. Sheena's youngest brother and his family live there. They are going for a surprise birthday party. Dan has never been to Vegas and I bet that it will be a sight to see.
So Sloan is ours for a few days. We have already taken a walk down to see the cows and he loved hearing them moo! He had a nice warm bath and a bottle and went down for a much needed rest.

The bottles are all washed, the supper dishes are done, and this old gal is about to call it a night. It's early for me I'm known to stay up until 2am but I think I better get some sleep myself before Sloan decides it's time to get up and play!
