Crocheting a Rag Rug

Well it seems like I have been blowing and a going for the last week. Friday I had a wonderful time going to the quilt show in Oklahoma City and of course I couldn't resist a few new patterns. Even bought Danny an iron. He said to buy him something so he likes tools so why not an iron!

I've been busy making rag balls out of scrap fabric and then got out the crochet hook and decided to try my hand at making a crocheted rug. It's a fast project that will help to use up some of the fabrics I have on hand and turn them into something someone can use.

Saturday Pati and I went junkin' and to an antique shop. I had a truck full of goodies by the end of the day. I never knew there was so many neat places to go in Oklahoma City....and you can bet I'll be back!

Pati didn't buy the quilt she is looking at but we did find some great Ladies Home Journals from the 1800's along with a basketfull of other treasures.

I didn't buy this monkey but I do have someone in mind that I think it would make a GREAT Christmas present for! Just kidding it is a bit scary but I do believe we had one of these growing up.

Happy Trails...Ginger

Wow! Love the look of ticking used in a rag rug! Great idea! The quilt Pati is looking at looks like a beauty! Great time of year to get out of the house and be inspired!

That monkey cracks me up. He looks like a cross between Curious George and Chuckie! A little scary.....

You and Pati seem to find the best places for shopping. Um, except for that monkey lol. reminded me of the planet of the apes costumes. funny!
I'm sure your next post will show the finished project of the crocheted rug. You are sooo fast. Can't wait to see it!

Oooh, yeah my brother did too and it still creeps me out. That is a very scary monkey, maybe that is why I can't stand costumes at Disneyland.

Oh I love your little rug, I am no good at crocheting, I have a book and have tried over and over, but seeing yours I am going to try it again, I love those rag balls.Very nice.

I am going to bet that Monkey's name was Zippy!! I have one that isn't that old but that I loved to death when I was little. He is in a box and I visit him occasionally!! I probably would have had to buy him :)

Love that rag rug. I almost bought my mom a kit to make one, thinking that you needed a special hook. Hmmm, think I will have her play around a bit to see what she comes up with. Wish I knew how to crochet.

My rag balls stay rag balls, haha! Wish I could crochet them into a rug. I bet the LHJ from the 1800's are really neat! Sounds like a fun day. There are lots of antique shops around the Tulsa area too. I haven't been to any around the OKC area. I'll have to do that some day.
