Flown The Coop!

We have an escapee....Seems like I can't keep this one contained to the chicken pen.
She has decided to roost right on the ledge of the house close to the door of all places.

I must admit yesterday morning around 6:30 am I was awakened by what I thought was an intruder. Danny had left about 30 minutes earlier for the day and I was sound asleep when I heard banging on the house. What to grab....get the gun...no better not....but a big pair of scissors ready, poised to do damage....
Okay remain calm....good thing I did it was that crazy chicken out there on the ledge of the house banging around....

Looks like I'll be needing to get her contained back to the pen and clean up the house. She's very lucky that's she is not being served as chicken pot pie!

Pipsqueak loves following her around the yard at a safe distance!

Happy Trails....Ginger

Funny! I wonder what the attraction to the side of the house is? Maybe she is trying to get inside to play with Pipsqueak?

Love the excitement of farm life. Hope you get your crazy chicken back where she belongs.

Ah, she is just trying to single herself out from the rest of the other gals. I bet she just wants a little of your undivided attention! Or maybe she is jealous of cute little Pipssqueak!

Why did the chicken cross the yard?
to give her owner a heart attack.
Oh that must of scared you I know it would me. Sleeping in all safe and sound then to hear the big racket.
Pipsqueak needs to get his (hers) chicken shooing skills sharpened.

Rhode Island Reds - they can be a pain in the neck!! We had one that used to pick on everyone so I put her out of the coop on purpose and figured I would let nature take its course - I was mad at her. Well a week later she was still around the house, eating bugs, digging in the garden and one night when we were eating dinner she was standing on the front step looking in the sliding glass door at us!! I went out, picked her up, threw her back in the coop and decided she was so mean even the coyotes didn't want her. She behaved much better after her "Time Out"!!
