Lemon Poppy Seeds Update Ready!

Here it is time again for another update on the LPS Shop. I finished up a penny rug and also added some other lil' items. Jenn has been busy needle punching lots of halloween goodies and we just need to finish them into different little offerings. So check back often to see all the great things she has been busy doing!

I have 2 more doodles ready for My Primitive Sampler that I'll be sharing this weekend.

Saturday evening we are having a fish fry here with family and friends coming over. If it doesn't rain the kids are planning on going to the pond to see if they can catch some fish. Thank goodness Dad caught plenty ahead of time for us to enjoy.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend with friends or family!

Jane Olson Rug Hooking Workshop
~Day 2 and 3~

Oh boy did I ever have an enjoyable time while at the Jane Olson Workshop in Lubbock, Texas. Jane and Diane pictured above were such a delight and I came home filled with lots of good memories. There were 15 of us gals in all and what a great time we had.

Pati and I learned how to braid a rug while we were there and we both finished a chair rug and then started an oval rug.

We had entertainment by some of the local rug hooking gals...don't they look cute in their motorcycle gear!

I enjoyed each and every moment and will always remember how giving Jane and Diane was to each and every one of us that attended. The food was splendid and the kindred spirit I feel with each gal there will not be forgotten.

Day 1 Jane Olson Workshop

If you ever have the chance to meet Jane Olson and take a class do it! You'll get more than you bargained for. She is a sweet lady with a gold mine of knowledge when it comes to rug braiding and hooking. I'd like to load her up in my car and bring her home!

Pati and I left Sunday morning around 6 am and headed for Lubbock, Texas. We had smooth sailing as there was little traffic. Once we reached our destination we were greated with Wool bag goodies and immediately began learning how to braid. Diane who travels with Jane started us on our rugs and Jane would come around often and sit and show us different shapes of braided rugs. Pati and I both began a round chair pad and we caught on pretty quickly to the braiding.

Penny was another gal that was wanting to learn the art of braiding and she began with an oval rug and by the end of the day she also had started a heart shaped one as well.

There are 13 students attending the workshop and I have learned so much in such a short time. Many of the students are rug hooking and so as new little tips and tricks were being discussed I couldn't help but to get up and go learn as well.

The meals have all been catered in and they have been so delicious....I think I've died and went to rug hookers heaven! Tomorrow we will be leaving for home and in the next few days hopefully I can share more pictures of the days spent here.

Deadlines! Don't they come quick!

Sleep deprived is the only answer to how I get things done. It seems like I look up each month and the 1st and the 15th are always arriving so quickly.

I just updated the Country Fried Primitives Shop and the Lemon Poppy Seeds shop whew I'm glad that is taken care of for a few days.

I'm trying to pack up a few projects to take along for my Texas trip. I'm going to start a rug I've been wanting to do for some time and I finally ordered the pattern and it arrived a few days ago. It's an Edyth O'Neill design "Peace On Earth" and I'm so looking forward to doing it. Maybe I'll even get a little sleep while I'm away....just got to remember to pack my pillow!

I'll have another pattern for My Primitive sampler on Saturday for those of you wanting the next free doodle.

Have a great day!

~*Happy Birthday*~

Today just happens to be my sister Sherry's birthday. Here we are many years ago as you can tell by the photo. I'm the oldest of 4 girls and Sherry is next in line. I'm close to all my sisters but Sherry was always my sidekick growing up. We spent many an hour playing together and I have to admit it wasn't with dolls. Mud pies, climbing trees, riding bicycles, football with the neighbor boys, and pretty much bugging our little sisters. We even had our first job together mowing lawns. She works at our welding shop three days of the week keeping everything in order so I can stay home and watch our grandson. I'm just so thankful for her as well as my other two sisters.

Today is also my niece Erin's birthday and Danny's sister Tricia's birthday. How great is that to share such a great day. We will be having 2 family gatherings on Saturday to celebrate birthdays as well as a baby shower. We have a new little niece and nephew that will be making their appearances soon. The family just continues to grow and aren't babies so much fun!

Happy Birthday girls hope you enjoy your special day.

Rug Hooking Day and Elmo!

I spent the better part of the day today at Country Collections. It is such a nice store to visit if your ever in Moore, Oklahoma. They carry so many different items for the crafter.

Today I taught my first rug hooking class and the one student I had loved it. She did a terrific job and is coming back to the Saturday guild to finish it up. Today we had rug hooking and needle punch guild and with the temperatures so hot it was good to see so many people there. We always have such fun and it's so nice to see what everyone is working on.

Thought I would share a little rug I just finished. It's a great pattern by Kelley. It's in her booklet "Early Harvest" and there are 10 wonderful patterns to choose from.

This lil' one is growing up so fast....wish some days that time would stand still. He can carry on a pretty good conversation and uses big words like "adventure" and for not being 2 until October he is really quite a talker. Okay so I'm a proud grandma! I bought him some Elmo big boy underwear and he just loves them. Elmo is his favorite thing right now.

Sunday morning before sun~up Pati and I will be leaving for Lubbock, Texas for a rug hooking workshop. Jane Olson will be there and we are looking forward to learning the art of braiding rugs. We also will be taking along some hooking to do. So Sunday, Monday, and part of Tuesday I'm going to live the life of leisure....

Be sure to check back soon I'll have more free doodles for "My Primitive Sampler"....I am almost ready to put mine together. Oh and next week I'll be having another giveaway.

New Halloween Needle Punch Pattern

"Polly Punkin" has a smile that would brighten any gloomy day! I just finished her up last night and made me up a pattern. Seems like I always draw a little, punch a little, draw some more, and punch more, and before you know it a new needle punch piece. If I like it then I draw up a pattern....a little backwards for most folks but it works for me!

Polly Punkin is done in 6 strands so it goes really fast. I'll be listing the original finished piece on eBay this weekend and will be offering patterns in my LPS pattern shop.

Look at the wonderful gift I received in the mail from Merrie. She is such a sweet gal in the group that I belong to on eBay called the An American Primitive Gathering. We often do group challenges, monthly internet hook-ins, plus so much more. I was one of the lucky gals to have their name chosen for a gift from the challenge we recently finished. I'm just thrilled to have received such a beautiful needle punched pillow and her work is top of the line! Just click on her name and it will take you to her eBay items. Thank you Merrie for sending me such a wonderful treasure!

Well here it is Friday once again. Doesn't the year just seem to be going by so quickly? School days here in Oklahoma start again in the middle of August and I know my nieces and nephews are trying to enjoy as much summer fun as they can. Right now a cool swim in the pool sounds great but it's back to work!
