Farm Livin' is the Life for Me....
Sunday was a busy day with church and running a couple of errands. Then the afternoon was spent outdoors with a few chores.
The lilac bush I planted last year is blooming and it has the most heavenly scent. It's got to be one of my all time favorite old fashion smells.
We wanted to get our onion sets planted and Danny started the tiller and began breaking up our small garden spot. I have to admit he even planted the onions while I was busy in the house.
With severe storms in the forecast Danny thought we better go ahead and get the cattle worked before it made everything wet and muddy.
Time for shots, worming, dehorning, and banding the bull calfs.
The squeeze shoot doesn't hurt them it just keeps them still while we give them the shots and stuff. I must say I truly dislike the dehorning process. Guess that's where the city gal in me comes back!
Big Ears patiently waits along with the others. We were done before sunset and I was glad to be back up to the house to finish up some more ornies I had been working on.
I love how these mittens turned out. They are a pattern by Brenda Gervais. I changed up the colors just a bit but they are gonna be so nice on the Christmas tree later this year.
Then I finished up a few hooked bowl fillers. The santa is an adapted design by Terrye French and Pati.
I'm looking forward to a full week with a little spring cleaning, hooking, stitching, and most of all enjoying family and friends. Wishing each of you a week full of timeless moments!
Happy Trails....Ginger

I am so jealous that your lilac bush is already blooming! Mine won't bloom for a while yet...boy I love their scent! Ok...everything sounds fine about the cow except the de-horning...ouch! I can't wait to get out and get my garden started...although mine is much smaller!...lol
Lilacs are the best, aren't they? Cute cows, too - although I think I'd hate disbudding (dehorning) as much as you do!
I can almost smell the Lilacs. We used to have some bushes at another house we lived in. Sure a lot to do on the farm. Love your little projects.
That is a flower I dont have, maybe I can add that to my list for this year. Love the ornies, sew cute! I completly understand about the dehorning. I used to have to help get the cows up when it was time for shots and dehorning and other cow things when I was a teen. Now my granny calls my teens to help. They are boys so they probably think its cool. Have a great hump day! Blessings,Karen
I love when our lilacs bloom and the smell wafts into the house. You sure keep busy with the farm and all those beautiful pieces you are making.

I was just catching up on your blog and what did my wondering eyes see??? LILACS IN MARCH! What? Is that normal? Mine are usually just barely opening by the beginning of May. They are my all -time favorite flower, and I have several bushes of different colors planted about the yard. I can't wait to smell them...
