A Very Serious Question

Started a new little project...and it's just about done!

So a certain lil' boy is very curious about the calves getting a drink. He wants to know if he can get a bucket and try milking one....I think not these aren't dairy cows but try explaining that to a 3 year old! He has lots of questions about how to go about doing this.

I don't think this Momma is all too keen on him trying either! The explanation is just not good enough for him. Have you ever milked a cow....yes I've tried it and it's not as easy as it looks. Really ~~~ I would just as soon buy my milk already in the carton!

Happy Trails....Ginger

  1. My Grandparents have a dairy but of course we use the "milkers"(machines) lol Although if any of them are gentle enough to let you milk then let him try. Of course the better option is to see if there is a dairy farm you could visit because they could let him help with the "milkers".
    take care

  4. Lotsa luck on that one! lol! I've seen too many people get kicked... so I also prefer the carton of refrigerated milk! lol!

  5. Oh that is too cute. Teach him the difference now Ginger, or he will end up like me as an adult thinking a bull was a cow LOL. Can ya tell I'm not a farm girl :)? My friends still tease me.
Have never milked a cow, but would seriously love to try!

  6. Oh boy Grandma, lets hear you explain this.I guess you can tell him if he milked that cow, than the baby wouldn't have anything to drink and might die.

  7. I like Katie's comment. That explanation would convince me as a kid. Yeah, just give me the carton, too!!!

  8. But if he's curious about it, it's a sign of a smart kid. So do your best to explain why not, give him a firm no, and make sure he doesn't try sneaking off on his own to do it!!! (I would have tried it as a kid, as I was too smart for my own britches. Too bad that didn't last into adulthood, lol.)

  9. Ah 3 year olds confidence. I think I might mention the possibility the cow could step on his foot. Even with boots on, that would hurt!

Does he like to drink whole milk? Would he try to catch a drink like the calf. lol just kidding!

  11. I have never tried milking a cow but have heard it takes some practice to learn how to do it. Milk used to come in the glass jugs in standard or homogenized. I never cared for the standard as it had to be shook up. Give me those plastic jugs or cartons of milk of today.
