~*Spring Tulip*~

The winds have been whipping across the fields so harshly the last few days and the temperatures have once again dropped to freezing. No spring tulips as of yet have popped up and we are so ready for spring days to come and stay. So with no tulips to enjoy I decided why not draw up one and make one to enjoy for now!

This week is sure to be filled with getting ready for Easter Sunday. Lots of memories come with Easter. When our kids were little times were hard and my Grandma always made sure lil' Dan had a new shirt and slacks and Jenn had a pretty new dress with a hat. I'll never forget those days and how she made it a little easier with just a simple gesture that meant so much.

Be sure to take a moment every now and again to remember those simple little things of life it's good for the soul. Treasure the moments!

A Trip to Canton, Texas
Trade Days

Need a Alpaca, pot~bellied pig, dog, goat, chickens, bunnies, lama's, horses or sugar glider bat well this place has them. Danny and I took a little trip across the state lines to go to Canton, Texas. First Monday Trade Days is a shopping adventure as big as Texas and it's located about an hour's drive East of Dallas.

I am not a shopper....let me repeat I am not a shopper but if you are this is the place to go. I have never seen so much stuff in one place in all my life. This place has been going strong since 1850. Yes since the 1800's people have been trading and selling their wares at this location.

We walked for 8 hours and still did not see all of it. Campers and RV's were crammed in side by side with folks selling everything you can imagine. There were so many buildings jammed full of merchandise you couldn't even see it all.

Antiques, art, collectibles, clothes, food, gifts, jewelry, purses, tools, cowhides, furniture, quilts, wind chimes, bird houses, signs, metal art, candles at every twist and turn.

If you go you better make a plan to meet up somewhere because cell phones don't get reception. Be sure to bring a cart or wagon to haul your goodies in or rent one there.

Food vendors were everywhere...roasted corn, turkey legs, lemonade, funnel cakes, kettle corn and so much more.

The day started out with a cool breeze but by the afternoon it was up to 80 degrees. I'm not sure I would want to be there come June, July, or August!

There was well over 7,000 vendors and then if that wasn't enough you could walk across the street to and there were even more. To say the least it was quite overwhelming!

Who Knew Rug Hooking Would Be So Fun!

Don't you just love this cat and bird! I hooked it up in no time! It's a doodle by Betty and when I saw it on her blog I knew I just had to give it a try. It would even look great as a stitchery or needle punch! Thank you Betty for some awesome doodles!

So Thursday has arrived and with that said most Thursday's and Friday's I am at work. Sloan is off visiting with his other grandparents and I'm sure they are enjoying every minute.

Well I looked up from my desk and what did I see outside...a HOUSE! Now I can honestly say it's the first house to pull in here. Mostly it's just farmers, oilfield workers or someone needing a truck bed or a trailer to pull equipment on. Seems like someone needed a little repair work done before pulling this house to it's new destination.

Our first home we lived in was smaller than this one but for just two youngsters starting out it was a place to call home. I often think back to that little tiny green house with just 4 rooms...made housework fast and easy!

Looks like today is going to be filled with some stormy weather and we can sure use the rain so no complaing here.

No Foolin'.....

I finished up another rug last evening. It was a design tweaked by Gene Shepherd by permission of Mustard Seed Primitives. I just need to get to binding this one and then it will be ready to be used somewhere in the house. It measures 18 x 24 inches and I'm thinking it might just go in the guest bedroom.

I've actually made up my mind to get after the binding on several rugs so tomorrow I'm heading to work with a rug and supplies to finish up one completely. It's a good thing the BOSS likes me! Not many employers let you work on hookin' and punchin' at work....

Vicki over at Hogscald Hollar
has gave me this award. How very thoughtful of her. If you get a chance stop on over and visit her blog she does rug hooking, spinning, felting, and so much more.

There are so many wonderful blogs I love to visit that I don't want to limit it to just a few. So consider yourselves all given this award.

Well April 1st is coming to a close and I haven't played any pranks today but then again I still have a few hours left!

Hooray It's Monday!

The wind is sweeping across the plains and you sure better hang onto your hat if you have one on!

Don't you just love the start to a new week. Of course I do look forward to weekends just as much. Monday's here generally mean I have my lil' sidekick with me and for now he's still taking a nap. Soon he'll be up ready to play again and have some lunch. Thought I would share an Easter image with you and a couple of my little doodles. Use the doodles to your choosing but please give me credit if you would for the design.

No fishing worms today just woolly worms. So what's a gal to do but hook them right into a rug.

I'm sure hoping to finish up this rug of a bluebird in a basket of posies in the next day or two. Goodness the rugs are starting to pile up maybe I better start binding a few. Love to hook them but dread the binding. Do you?

Hope your enjoying a wonderful Monday, too!

Welcome Back Spring!

Spring time has returned to the farm once again. The trees along with the little flowers beginning to raise their heads from the cold grounds of winter have been in just a bit of confusion as the temperatures over the weekend dipped below freezing. Snow falling lightly didn't last long and the warm rays of sunshine quickly has brought spring back once again.

The northern part of our state though is still digging out from near blizzard conditions. How I do enjoy living in central Oklahoma where we enjoy milder weather than the north part of the state. I know a great many of you are experiencing cold days and wintery mixes and hope you are staying nice and warm!

I've been staying busy over the last few days trying for once to get ahead in my crafting adventures and have already updated my Lemon Poppy Seed Shop. If you have time just click on the link to see the offerings we have.

Well with all this sunshine flowing through my sewing room window I believe I'll take a walk before the evening sun starts bowing it's head to say another day is done.

Are You Sure They Said ~S*N*O*W
What Happened to Spring?

It's been an upside down crazy week and it's not over yet! Our trees are blooming, the lilac smells so good and on every local news channel the forecast is a winter storm warning. U*N*B*E*L*I*E*V*A*B*L*E.....

The heater is back on and the long sleeve shirts and jackets are back! Well it's looking like spring at least in my sewing room. I'm working on the rug that Gene Shepherd started on his blog hook-in. With the Noel rug done the lil' bird and basket is soon to be finished, too.

The punchneedle has been popping through the cloth at a pretty fast pace trying to get ready for the LPS updates due on the 1st. I'm hoping to have them done early for once....we'll see!

Sloan loves to talk and for almost being 18 months old this lil' one can sure say a lot of words and even a few short sentences.

He must be calling PaPa to tell him we need more milk.

He is our official cookie inspector and even has the shirt that tells everyone so. Oreos are high on the thumbs up list!

Farm Livin' is the Life for Me....

Sunday was a busy day with church and running a couple of errands. Then the afternoon was spent outdoors with a few chores.

The lilac bush I planted last year is blooming and it has the most heavenly scent. It's got to be one of my all time favorite old fashion smells.

We wanted to get our onion sets planted and Danny started the tiller and began breaking up our small garden spot. I have to admit he even planted the onions while I was busy in the house.

With severe storms in the forecast Danny thought we better go ahead and get the cattle worked before it made everything wet and muddy.

Time for shots, worming, dehorning, and banding the bull calfs.

The squeeze shoot doesn't hurt them it just keeps them still while we give them the shots and stuff. I must say I truly dislike the dehorning process. Guess that's where the city gal in me comes back!

Big Ears patiently waits along with the others. We were done before sunset and I was glad to be back up to the house to finish up some more ornies I had been working on.

I love how these mittens turned out. They are a pattern by Brenda Gervais. I changed up the colors just a bit but they are gonna be so nice on the Christmas tree later this year.

Then I finished up a few hooked bowl fillers. The santa is an adapted design by Terrye French and Pati.

I'm looking forward to a full week with a little spring cleaning, hooking, stitching, and most of all enjoying family and friends. Wishing each of you a week full of timeless moments!

~*A Busy Saturday*~
Housework~Cake & Ice Cream~Stitching

The sun is sinking low and the day is coming to an end.

It's been a busy Saturday with the beginning of some much needed housework, a birthday party, buying a few groceries, laundry, and finishing off the evening in my favorite room of the house stitching.

My niece "Maggie" turned 7 yesterday. Her cousins spent the night with her and they celebrated with a princess party last night. They all had a great time. Today we went to my sister Bobbie's home to have lunch and birthday cake.

Sherry and Mom

The boys watch as Maggie opens up her goodies.

Just enjoying visiting.

Erin and Jane...just like a daughter and mom!

A great way to work off the cake and ice cream, maybe I should have crawled up there but who would have helped me down...mmmhh!

So as the day comes to an end this has been one busy day. Found some time to make up 3 christmas ornies and finished pulling loops on this fall hooked rug for a retreat that the An American Primitive Gathering has been doing. I'm hoping to share more finished goodies tomorrow.

Spring Days Are Here!

It's the first day of spring which means my niece "Maggie" celebrated her 7th birthday today and tomorrow will be a family celebration with all the family.

I'm hoping we get our small garden spot tilled up in the next few days so that we can begin planting so we can have fresh vegetables this summer.

This weekend looks to be a busy one for sure. Hope each of you have a wonderful weekend planned and find time to enjoy with family and friends.

The Beginning of Another Week!

We had a wonderfully warm spring day and tomorrow is suppose to be much the same. The schools are closed for spring~break and my nieces and nephews are enjoying some time off from schoolwork.

Sloan and I spent a good part of the day outside with him having wagon rides and it's funny how a 16 month old likes to walk with one foot on the edge of bricks along my flowerbed while the other foot walks along in the grass. Reminded me of Leave it to Beaver.

I finally got around this evening to updating my LPS,CFP, and ebay sites updated. There you will find rabbits, tulips, chicks, pinkeeps, and bowl fillers. I have so much more just needing some finishing touches.

Over the weekend we had a good time visiting with Danny's family and I caught my daughter Jenn having a rare moment sitting on her Daddy's lap. Think she still might be Daddy's girl!

*~Over The Hill ~*
A '59 Model

Danny's sister "Karen" takes the good-natured kidding of being "50" very well. Of course growing up in a family of six kids you just better get use to kidding and lots of it!

Danny's mom made two cakes and boy were they good...homemade german chocolate cake and chocolate sheet cake!

Karen with her little granddaughter Chloe!

Chloe may be small but she sure can keep the boys on their toes. It's going to be lots of fun watching these little ones as they grow up.

A time to say goodbye for the day. We had lots of fun enjoying good food, family, and a warm sunny day!
